I am trying to get SFC 3 to work with my router and I am not having much luck. Do I need to set up port forwarding to join an online campaign. I can't get past the testing. I opened the suggested ports from the firewall but still no go. Please somebody help me! Thanks!

Oh and if it helps any I am using a netgear router.

Have you read the network_readme file in the help directory. I remember that once I had things setup I had to let the program go through several count down cycles and enter my external IP before it configured itself.

Yeah and I went through the whole read me and everything. Still nothing. I let it run like 4 or 5 times so far and nothing. I am also having problems in gamespy where it says I can't find host. I am also using XP service pack 2 and have norton internet security but I Opened all suggested ports and added the programs to the list in norton. I don't have this problem with other stuff. Its so weird.

Did the Netgear section in the readme apply to your router? If so and you followed the instructions then you should be fine with the D3, given that you may have to go through the countdowns and enter your external IP as it configures itself.

GSA is a differnt animal and needs a bigger range of ports opened to get full use of it. There is a Firewall Help section you can go through on GSA and once you have those ports open as well all should be fine.

Which IP would be my external. I have tried everything. It was pretty close with the netgear thing but old ... i still did everything it told me to do. GSA I already went through that whole thing too. Still no go.

Your external IP is the one your router holds and how the outside world see's you. Your router should have an info page that shows the outside IP.

Your inside IP is the IP of your PC on your LAN. Usually 192.168.1.10? and you have to tell the router to forward the required ports to that internal IP.

Then SFC:TNG may still ask you to enter your external IP too.

I set it all up and still no go. Just unplugged the router and it works fine. Oh well. It's a pain but I'll just unplug it when I wanna play. Thanks for all the help.
