Server busy for downloading??
« on: August 23, 2004, 07:44:22 am »
I have ben trying to DL the OP 3.4 for GW3, but keep getting a "server busy" message. Im using Get Right as a DL manager. When I use the Default MS DL manager the target page does not load. Is the server really busy or do I need to continue being patient?
Again, Thanks in advance
Nemo

The ftp link is pretty slow but working for me, have you tried the bittorrent as linked here?:

Are you getting it from the links below? I didn't have any trouble at at, but I don't use anything but my defauld download mgr (MS)

First make sure you have the OP+3.4 shiplist
The one with models:
ftp://klingon.stasis.ca/pub/sfcop/opplus_34_models.exe
The one with out models:
ftp://klingon.stasis.ca/pub/sfcop/opplus_34_no_models.exe
*UPDATE BELOW*
the Official rules page:
http://mkroll.asta.chicago.il.us/

Follow the link in the upper left corner "complete installer" for the latest shiplist and mission pack for the ones that will be used on the server.

I repated the whole post for the downloads, try again.

You are new to your router?

Do you know about passive FTP?

Set IE or WS-FTP to use passive transfers for ftp - that may help
(on the advanced tab for the session properties in WS_FTP or
on the advanced tab for internet properties in IE...)

no not terribly new, but definitely not knoledgeable, logging onto op wasnt a router problem , I had to edit something in meta assets , i did that and boom was able to log on. I been at SFC for around 5 years, have done alot of downloads and installations. I have never dealt with FTP unless it was unknowingly.
keep the ideas coming ! I appreciate  help :)

btw wat the heck settings initiate passive ftp?  (didnt see it in the advanced options of ie)

Hrm. Reason why I set it up within FTP was to be able to control the upload rate so that I don't take all of Frey's bandwidth and end up screwing up dynaverse.net itself!

.. proftpd has some interesting bandwidth controls, you see.. Apache's wasn't working.

Sorry if it caused any convenience.
HOWEVER! I still recommend you get a bittorrent client of some sort and download it through the torrent file. It's faster.
