Just uninstalled POS XP Service Pack 2
« on: August 19, 2004, 09:41:13 pm »
After installing that POS Service Pack 2, my laptop refused to shutdown or restart, hung up when sleeping and refused to wake up.  I had to pull the battery to get the thing to turn off.  Anyone else had this problem or know if this is a known issue??  Love that Microsoft!!!

System Specs:

Dell Dimension E521
AMD64x2 5000+
2G DDR2 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3
250GB SATA HD

I've had similar problems with other versions of windoze.

I installed SP2 over the weekend.  The only problem I've had so far is the other day when there was a spontaneous reboot while I was web surfing.

No chance of me installing in its current state (a right mess), will have to wait and see if they manage to sort it out.

Upgraded two days ago. Noticeable problem with the security settings it "imposes". First it wouldn't let me open my Comcast Email until I allowed it to recieve cookies from the mail site. Second I've noticed it blocks any active X or Java script until I allow it for each specific site. Annoying. ???

P.S. I can't even choose the MORE option from the list of Smiley icons, damn upgrade is treating them as a "pop-up". >:(

I've installed SP2 on a couple of machines so far, some clean & some upgrades and haven't had any problems so far.

It did hose Bearshare, but they seem to be aware of the problem and are working on a fix in a new version.
