That is ever so cool. The freighter we recognise as do we the dish but where did the doors and ledge come from? And will there be a SFC2 release for us? Gee, I hope so.

The doors and ledge are from Desty's original CVA... ;)

I like this... TREMENDOUSLY!!! I actually think that it makes a better looking heavy carrier than the 'flatbeds' that ADB came up with!!!

Bloody excelent ship Mackie!

Clearly, this design is WAY too expensive to be used as an Aux CVA => not with that fancy CA/CVA saucer

In my humble eyes, this ship should compete for the standard CVA slot. . .but I wonder at the major rounding of the secondary hull .. . .but I do think this ship does have merits as a CVA. Looks like it has more internal volume than a CVA. . .maybe a SCS?

imagine they had a broken carrier and a broken freighter and the scrabbled this together from them , this is supposed to be a low cost fecked up solution ;p (or alternatively imagine starfleet their excisting freighter hulls into useable carriers as a makeshift solution)

Actually there is a historical precedent, in World War 2 the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force/Fleet Air Arm, I think (not sure which service), did Convert several Frieghters to CAM Freighters, this was Catapult Armed Merchantman.  What they did was to add a standard ship mount seaplane catapult, common for launching seaplane spotters off the Cruisers, Battlecruisers and Battleships of the day for over the horizon spotting and gunnery (watch the shot splash) correction. To this catapult they added a Hawker Hurricane fighter.  The reason was the Luftwaffe was using long range Focke-Wulf 200s converted to the anti shipping role to attack or shadow convoys for the U-Boats.  They needed a desprate solution and this was it, before the advent of the so called Jeep or escort carriers.

So this is another solution for an armed merchant man to assist the escort Commodore with fighter/attack support. . . http://www.hq.wwiionline.com/profiles/supply_ship.shtml for more information.

 ;)

Yeah, you're right. If it lost the saucer and replaced the nacelles with standard freighter nacelles, it would probably be more believable as an AuxCVA.  Still, a cool model though.

Strip it down and use it for a CVA tug pod?

oooohhhhh. I like the CVA tug pod idea :)
Just mate it up to a Lord Schupp or AtraHasis Tug. . .and voila!

I hear you on the CAM freighter idea, but I think the analogy is a bit stretched on this one. Although. . .did I see a model recently of a B10 boom on a Tug body? (shudder)

True Zero,

But the Jeep carrier idea that eventually arrose during WW II came from building a landing deck on a freigther hull for a "jeep/escort" style carrier, to provide aircover (and replaced the CAM ships) . .  and that is how I see this design, by using a "carrier pod" and perhaps some converted ships like this one the Feds would be doing in this future what was done in the past  ;), the cam ship wasnt a good anthalogy  . . was what popped into the head  :o .  . was long day at work

Take a cpl warp engines off a decommisioned/salvaged ship and match it to a similar situation saucer and mate them then to a converted tug pod and what do you have? An Aux CVA.
