Introducing OP Enhancement package v2.0

Due to recent changes in game content made by the community, a major update to the Enhancement pack was needed.. and since v2.0 was never completely uploaded previously and not available, I kept the name for the revision.

Changes to OP Enhacement Pack V2.0 from previous version :

Revised installation process for smoother install and smaller file size for download.

MetaMap.war file revised for OP since it was originally missing all cartels which caused OP to crash if used (The original Metamap.war game file was taken directly from SFC 2 : EAW and never updated). Conquest Campaign mode now uses the Conquest game map along with the metaMap.war game file for all races to be enemies just like Empires at War conquest mode does. This file fix will remain permenant for those who uninstall OP Enhancement package so that they can use the Conquest settings correctly. (Conquest mode renames MetaMap.war to MetaMap.gf and the original MetaMap.gf is renamed to MetaMap.old .. I will continue to refer to this Conquest game file as MetaMap.War for change discriptions.)

Corrected MetaMap.gf file (Storyline or original MetaMap.gf game file) for error in Monster alliance setting.. Monsters were set to 200 against themselves.. fixed to monsters set to 0 against themselves, eliminating some update issues present in single player storyline campaign game mode. This file fix will remain permenant for those uninstall OP Enhancement package so that Storyline campaigns will operate more smoothely when game updates the database.

80 single player campaigns revised, redundant campaigns removed (use to be 92 campaigns added), Separated for Conquest mode and Storyline mode, with Storyline and Conquest mode batch file shortcuts added to desktop. General Empire race campaigns (that originally came with Orion Pirates) were designed by default for Conquest games. They will now be separated to the conquest game mode by the OP Enhancement Package and will now use the Conquest game map and metamap.war settings file as per original game design (never implimented or used before). Campaign MCT files that originally came with Orion Pirates will be restored to original location upon uninstall of OP Enhancement and will use the standard MetaMap.gf file and the standard campaign maps that the cartel campaigns do.

ED Mission scripts updated to Nuclear Wessels latest mission pack featuring Firesoul's scripting fix.

Campaign MCT files revised and cleaned up. TW missions removed from custom storyline campaigns. Conquest campaigns now sorted for total War scripts and core scripts for smoother game play and less error.

updated OP+ v3.3 shiplist to OP+ v3.4 shiplist by Firesoul

Updated Co-op Ace v3.2 to Co-OP Ace v3.2.1 as revised by Firesoul

Added a simple version of Dynaverse Gamers Association D2 directory server fix with files provided to me by Admiral Frey XC. This fix will remain permenant in Orion pirates if OP Enhancement package is uninstalled to allow players to retain Dynaverse 2 connection.

Dynaverse 2 model Package by Pneumatic81 and Atrahasis revised into a new installer by Pestalence to better preserve and restore the OP original models. This was necessary for those whose systems can not handle high or medium resolution for Orion Pirates models in game (lagging ships). Original ships restored in their original condition upon D2 model package uninstall (previous uninstaller as created by P81 and Atrahasis did not restore original models). These installers now correctly auto locates Orion Pirates.

Firesoul's Model Test Script updated to latest version.

235 total mission scripts added to Orion Pirates including Nuclear Wessels Mission Pack, Tracey G. patrol mission package, El Karnak EEK mission package, Firesoul's EAW to OP mission script conversions, EAW to OP Bonus script conversions, Firesoul's model test script, Firesoul's fests+ package, OP Bonus CD missions, Sector Assault mission script by MagnumMan, and Co-Op Ace v3.2.1 as revised by Firesoul.

Revised uninstall process into stages that will uninstall in reverse of the install order to preserve OP in it's original state prior to OP Enhancement addition (with exception for necessary game file updates for D2 connection, conquest game play and regular campaign playability in the *.gf files).. as such, making it easier to obtain future OP Enahancement packages as updates become available.

Improved Shipedit EAW and Shipedit OP installer.

Shortcuts added to desktop for Shipedit EAW, Shipedit OP, Campaign mode batch file, Storyline mode batch file, Co-Op Ace Customizer for OP, and Sector Assault customizer.

Dynaverse 2 Model Pack High Resolution

2) OP_Enhancement_Package_v2.0_LR_Models.exe

Dynaverse 2 Model Pack Low Resolution

3) OP_Enhancement_Package_v2.0_No_D2_Models.exe

   Dynaverse 2 Model Pack Removed

Installer Options :

Each installer above contains 4 install options :

1) Install patch v2552 with OP+ v3.4 with models
2) Install patch v2552 with OP+ v3.4 without models
3) Install OP+ v3.4 with models but without patch v2552
4) Install OP+ v3.4 without models but without patch v2552

Installation Instructions :

Normal Installation :

1) Completely remove Orion Pirates from your system and remove any additional installed content for Orion Pirates. The best way to do this is to remove the programs using Window's Control Panel and then delete the program directory out of Program Files.

2) Disable Anti-Virus for the remainder of the steps.

3) Reinstall Orion Pirates from game CD. Say no to DirectX and Gamespy Arcade installs.

4) Make sure your DirectX is up to date. Current version is now DirectX9.0c which adds stability and smooth game play.  Players not using DirectX 9.0c may cause others in game to suffer lag, drops, inability to connect during mission loads, etc. This is stated in the Microsoft DirectX FAQ page.

5)  Delete the desktop shortcut.

6) Go inside your Starfleet Command Orion Pirates game directory and find the StarfleetOP.exe, right click and select Copy. move pointer to empty spot on the desktop and right click. Select Paste Shortcut and rename desktop icon to whatever name you would like.

7) Install the Orion Pirate Enhancement Pack v2.0 and allow it to install fully. This process will go through several separate installers by way of a black DOS window once the main installer closes. Follow all instructions listed in the DOS window for complete OP Enhancement Pack install.

8) Re-enable your Anti-Virus. make sure that the OP Enhancement package install has completed completely first.

Custom Installation (for those who have custom models they do not wish to lose)

1) Go to your Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\Assets\Models and  your Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\OPPLUS\Models directories. Copy both of the Models directories and paste them outside the Orion Pirates game directory. (you only need to copy the directory in which you have changed models out within the game)

2) Follow the instructions listed above for Normal instillation.

3) Sort through your copied Models folders on a model by model basis using Taldren Model Viewer (if you have it) and compare your model to the models installed by the Enhancement Package. Replace the models in the OP game directory with your custom models in whish you wish to use to play the game.

4) Keep a complete backup of your custom models outside the OP game directory in the event you need to uninstall the OP Enhancement Package. Usually this is done with Winzip or Winrar (to save HDD space).

Uninstall Instructions :

To uninstall the OP Enhancement Pack, just go into your OP game directory and double click the OP_Enhancement_Uninstall.exe file. then follow the instructions listed in the pop up DOS window. It will uninstall each component one at a time to ensure that Orion Pirates will remain in it's original state, with exception of a couple of game file fixes for Single Player and for Dynaverse Connection.

Four components that the OP Enhancement Pack can not uninstall with it's uninstaller is the v2552 patch, the OP Bonus Content, Shipedit, and Sector Assault. To uninstall Sector Assault and Shipedit, use Window's Add/Remove Programs. To remove patch v2552 and OP Bonus Content, Uninstall and reinstall Orion Pirates.

http://www.nightsoft.net/effhq/files/OP_Enhancement_Package_v2.0_HR_Models.exe

Other versions of this package will be available when they are finished uploading.. currently the biggest package is uploaded and available...

Note to Nuclear Wessels :

Due to the *.mct files you provided, they were not usable in this enhancement package. You have TW missions mixed with Core missions mixed with Uni_* missions which are designed for Storyline game mode mixed with PVP Missions which caused errors in Conquest game mode. As such, I have used your mission scripts and created the *.MCT campaign files (except Stock Cartel campaigns) for the common user to reduce the number of single player campaign problems. All your scripts are used in this Enhancement Package, however all *.MCT campaign files with exception of Stock Cartel campaigns has been revised for smoother game play. If you use this package, you will see your scripts being used in the Storyline Campaigns listed as Custom in game.. and you will see in conquest mode Custom and Total Tar campaigns.. these separate out your Core and Total War scripts.. mission scripts that stated PVP on the end were removed from Single Player Campaign setups. The Enhancement pack does contain those scripts for use with the Dynaverse for servers utilizing them, however; they are not utilized in single player campaign set ups.

Note to Firesoul :

I was unable to use your EAW to OP installer since one of your options lists Evil Dave customized mission scripts.. due to these MCT files having invalid script entries as compared to the current release of Nuclear Wessel's mission scripts.. such as NW_Rescue is not a valid mission in his current package.. thus an invalid entry in the *.mct campaign files.. my current campaign files in the OP Enhancement Package v2.0 is updated for his latest valid mission entries so that the game doesn't get any hichups that may cause crash or problems during campaign play... Sorry buddy, I have your scripts and Standard EAW to OP campaign MCT files, but the ED campaign setup you included are missing scripts and have entries that are no longer present.. as such, I decided to build my won installer with the scripts bundeled along with the various campaign MCT files separated out for Conquest and Storyline.. and Storyline has custom set-ups as wasll as Conquest with Total War Scripts separated from the Core Scripts with PVP scripts removed from selection in single player... I tried, but your selection to have the ED Custom scripts makes the installer invalid for this package since it has a few errors compared to NW's current mission selection.. I did my best, however you are still credited in the readme for the v2.0 for the EAW to OP scripts and MCT campaign files... that will never change... hope that you understand my position on this.. I want this package to be the most up to date package available.

Hope that this helps.

Help!

Frustration level reaching 100%

As a non-cable user I got to 60% of the d/l and got kicked offline. Can somebody mail me a disk with this on it please? I would like to recruit more OP players but the folks I know don't know how to mod squat are also modem users and this package is a great way to improve the game for the novice players I have in mind who haven't been in the SFC community for years like me.

In the meantime, the smaller d/ls with the campaign MCTs/ Revised missions will be a very welcome sight about now.

Get a program called getright.. it will allow you to continue downloads if you drop or if the site goes down.. most dial-up users should use this program in order to obtain their downloads flawlessly and without hassle.. If you start a DL with Getright tonight.. then even to days from now, so long as the DL is available and the site is up, you can continue where you left off... hect you can wait 6 months and so long as the file is available and the site is up, you can continue where you left off...

Hope that this helps..

to get Getright...

OK.. what this does is it installs the Dynaverse 2 models first .. it will back up your original game models and replace them with the P81 / Atra model pack.. then OP + v3.4 will install.. if you use the Model version of the install for the OP + pack.. it will install all of Firesoul's model's plus since he still copies some of the models from the original models installed.. his pack will pull a couple from the D2 models installed, thus enhancing the experience a little more... basically they co-exist together.

Now if you use the OP + v3.4 without model install method.. it will copy models from the original game.. as such use the Dynaverse 2 models installed.. either way the game will use both models without loss of any from eith package..

If you decide to uninstall the OP Enhancement Pack.. and you follow all uninstall steps.. you will be left with the stock game..

Also, each component can be uninstalled individually without problem.. if the models are too high resolution for your system.. you can uninstall OP + or the D2 models using their individual uninstallers located in the OP game directory...

i made this package very diverse so that people can make the most use of the community created material for their systems, taking into consideration that not everyone's machine can handle the full package..

tomorrow, I should have both the Low Res package up and the NO D2 model package up if those are needed...

Hope this answers you question and I am glad that you like the package.. but don't thank me.. thank everyone who contributed to this package.. all I did was revise some installers and make the single player MCT campaign files.. everything else is the respective property of their creators...

Pesty, the package u did is just awesome. It woulda taken me hours to install all the stuff I'd need while it takes your installer only a few minutes.

I didnt want shipedit, cuz I have one I already tweaked... And your installer gave me such freedom over what I did and didnt want to install, all the while being just such a breeze to do. Amazing. How long it take you to put that together? Its just flawless.

Oh hell, one gripe. You could use an image of one of my Orion Slave chicks on that load screen instead of that Orion ship... C'mon we seen that ship enough already, damnit! Oh, and I noticed that the Wonserver setup for the directory servers... is not the same as the one listed in the sticky on this thread. I had to change that.

Mb you can update your installer... Cuz that is the ONLY thing I had to do myself. Your package is just great...

You have my addy for that check ur sending me, right? ;)

OK... two items for the enhancement pack:

First, do an "attrib -r -a -s -h /s" at the beginning of the various pack unloads - some files appear to error as read only.

Second, can you make the opening of the word doc optional?

I would just like to know LeRoy.How did the download go and what do you think of getright sorry not providing you with link?

This for anyone wanting to do this and I strongly recommend it whether you are on Dial up,DSL or ADSL.

   The Link is      www.getright.com

I have mirror 11 this great utility for downloading anything off the web

   Pestalence recommends it himself.

The good thing about this is that you can stop your dls when you want and resume them when you want like eg only the weekends for 2
hours and alway choose save.I would make folder and always place your downloads in it this way you will not have redownload.

There isn't SFB-OP in  but CooP Ace is in it .This is good to play on a the Dynaverse with no server installed .It does have all the missions from Nuclear Wessels,El Karnak and Tracey G. .The only thing it is missing is FireSouls OP+ 3.4 .He came out with that much sooner that anticipated .It can be found in the general StarFleet Command forum to download .

You can get it here   www.klingon.stasis.ca

Download the Enhancement Pack  first useing getright see below  and then OP+3.4

Read everything I said about getright and do it.

There are several single player Campaigns to play on in here as well Empires at War scripts have all been transfered over to OP.It is a
nice package and it make it a better game.
SFB OP is server being played right now. If you have any more questions please post them.

How about inclusion (with appropriate permissions, of course) for Centauri Vaughn's FleetPick2.A and TeamStarfleetBattles as well as his WrathOfKhan mission series?

Also, naturally with Firesoul's permission, his SFC-OP mini-updater (though I think it MIGHT be redundant as the fixes might already be a part of OP+3.4 (?)) which incorporates things like the fighter fix and ESGSoundLoop fix (as well as the server fixes that are ALREADY a part of this Enhancement Pack)?  Oh, doesn't the first post in this thread imply that OP+ 3.4 is included?  If it isn't, do I install OP+ BEFORE or AFTER I install the Enhancement Pack?

Just some thoughts, because I think this OP Enhancement Pack idea is the wave of the future, consolidating the best of what's out there for people like me who just don't have the time to keep up with everything this active community puts out.  Heck, reading the opening post of this thread, I had no IDEA that there were this many fixes out here.  Amazing stuff.

If I were to download SFB-OP's shiplist&models, is there an easy way to switch between Taldren/OP+/SFB-OP "modes"? Any utilities out there for that?

-TF

Oh, one last thing.  Since Chris Jones seems to be making rapid progress on his SFCOP TNG+ - Universe At War mod, that would be cool, too. (as well as an easy way to switch from Taldren/OP+/SFB-OP/TNG+UAW modes).

Of course, this would make the mod larger than the actual base game.  But what the hey.

This will have to be an idea put before Pestalence no doubt he will do it.It just depends on how big you want the file to be to download. It already has the The Wrath of Kahn in it but not C.V. version it is in skirmish and multi player. He will also have to include the mini updater by FireSoul. It is just that FireSoul work faster than he does. When this was released 3.4 was out a month later. If FireSoul would slow down he could get caught up.The thing is Pestalence hasn't been around for awhile and being in the same fleet as him I have no idea what he is up to.

I guess he has more on his plate right now to think about this but you can add the missing elements yourself. This is great package even without those elements.I would download it and see what you think then download those missing elements. It is good no matter what and everyone who contributed to it deserves Thanks as well as Pestalence himself.I hope you find the Enhancement Pack as great as I do.It definitely makes for a better game. You will want to install the OP+3.4 after  The E Pack and all your ideas will keep Pestalence busy if the rest of the community can slow down a bit

You have given him lots of ideas to work on and he will definetly take them into consideration.I hope this answers everything.

Yep, Pestalence's E Pack is definitely the way to go.
This is what I would like to see in it:

(1) Strat's ModChooser65 ( http://www.dynaverse.net/v2/downloads.php?id=27&game=SFC2%20OP#download ).  It allows hopping around from mod to mod, but if I read his post correctly, is only limited to 4 mods.  That will have to be increased, given how much material is coming out for SFC:OP. See Strat's post ( http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163348126.0.html ) wherein he seems to suggest that expanding his ModChooser65 to allow for more mods is simply a question of  "Depending on how it [the utility] is rewritten, you can write in however many a fixed number of Mod saves supported, or write it so that it is done dynamically... As of now, it would be simpler to Copy & Paste some lines already there, change a few details, and add some buttons."  Note Strat credits for this utility: "Tar (Who Started the Whole thing), Me (Who made it simple and automatic), and Legendary(For compiling and Beta Testing)."

(2) Taldren's Model Viewer ( TaldrenModviewer.zip ).  Might as well put it in.  Not a big file, and an "official" Taldren work (at the same link as above).

(3) OP+ 3.4 / SFB OP 4/ TNG+U@W shiplists integrated and easily switchable (presumably via ModChooser65).  Note Chris Jones' TNG+U@W is still beta right now ( http://www.frost-works.com/cjmods/sfc2optng.htm ).  But won't be forever :)

(4) FireSoul's miniupdater ( http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163347781.0.html ).  The D2 directory updates are already part of the EPack, but this also incorporates the ESGSoundloop fix, missing fighters, and a model missing damage textures.  It's also a FireSoul utility.  Good enough for me.

(5) Centauri Vaughn's FleetPick2.A  AND his TeamStarfleetBattles ( http://www.12omega.com/sfc.html ).

(6) Centauri Vaughn's version of the Wrath Of Khan (same link as above) mission, which in his case are actually a series of 4 missions.

(7) Bonk's SFB-OP 4 Missions ( http://members.lycos.co.uk/mastersarena/SFBOP.html ).  If you're gonna have the SFB-OP shiplist, you've gotta have the missions!

I think you get that, and you have one MEAN EPack v3.0 on your hands.

Yes Pestalence can do this and he will if the community wants it done. This will be a big file like 300megs or more. That is ok I have seen bigger files. There would be 2 exception though and that is Strat Shiplist Chooser the only way he will include this and agian if the community wants it and it is fully tested by Strat himself with Enhancement Pack installed on his computer. The secound thing is Chris Jones mod is another mod altogether and it is 250+ mb big. This would big a huge download and not everyone is on broadband.

This what Pestalence take into consideration when putting these Enhancement Pack together. That is why he make them a small as possible for 56kers.He would but mostly what you are asking for but would want Strat to do the testing on the chooser as for Chris Jones mod that is separate mod altogether I doubt he would but that in there. This is really meant for the Dynaverse 2 as a stock server if there was one or aviable.I hope this answers most of what Pestalence would do.I may not be him and no I can't speak for him but I have gotten to know him really well. That is why we are in the same fleet.

He has been a big help to me not that others haven't.I will let Pestalence answer the rest of what you are asking for. That is when he clears his plate. Please if there is anything other than what you are asking for I will answer them for you.

The Elite Federation Force is not just a Fleet it is here to help those in need.Being one of the oldest SFC fleets around.

Well I'll let you know how I just configured things tonight, and I'm still trying to find out if everything's okay (so far so good).  And YES, Pestalence's Enhancement Pack has been a massive timesaver.  It rocks.

MY SFC-OP INSTALLATION SEQUENCE:

(1) Installed OP from CD after totally clean uninstall of EVERYTHING OP related.  Including Taldren and Taldren Software Inc folders.  Including fan created content.

(2) Ran Pestalence's OP Enhancement Pack 2.0, following his instructions CLOSELY (including deleting the OP shortcut on desktop before even starting, and creating a new desktop shortcut via StarfleetOP.exe from the Orion Pirates program folder) (NOTE: Actually, given that FireSoul's miniupdater, further downstream in this sequence, is supposed to fix this link anyway, this step of creating a new desktop shotcut to StarfleetOP.exe instead of the erroneous initially-installed shortcut to SFOP.exe is probably unnecessary).

(2a) When Pestalence's Enhancement Pack got to the OP+ shiplist, and started OP+'s own installer, CANCELLED out of OP+'s own installer (but continued with the rest of the installation in the DOS window from the Enhancement Pack).

(2b) Cleaned up the Startmenu, which is kind of messed up at this point (Modviewer links to nothing, for example) and desktop icons to my preferences.

(3) Ran Firesoul's Mini Updater ( SFC-OP_mini-updater-20041026.exe ).

(4) Installed Centauri's FleetPick2a;TeamStarfleetBattlesv3.0; StarTrekII Missions.

(5) Installed Strat's ModChooser65 (in violation of the instructions which recommend actually starting with a clean install.  But at this point in the installation, I have SFC-OP at a good restore point: new scripts and utilities, fixes pre and post patch, and the basic SFC shiplist.).

(6) Installed FireSoul's Opplus_34_models.exe (OP+ 3.4 with models), followed immediately by running ModChooser65 (as per Strat's instructions for ModChooser), assigning OP+3.4 to slot #1 on the ModChooser.

(7) Using ModChooser, "restored" SFC-OP back to "Taldren" (which, I think, is how my SFCOP was as of completion of step 4).

( 8 ) Installed Bonk's SFB_OP_04.exe then SFBOPmissions.exe (you cannot install SFBOPmissions.exe without having SFB_OP_04.exe installed first), followed by once again immediately running ModChooser65 and assigning SFB-OP 04 to slot #2.

That's about where I'm at.  I'll let you know when my computer melts down.

If ModChooser works okay, as it stands, I now have means of hopping between SFC, OP+3.4, and SFB-OP.  What's more, I still have two slots left on ModChooser for Chris Jones' upcoming TNG-U@W mod when it's passed the beta stage, and for one further mod, TBD.

Just wanted to pass on my strategy for installation so I can refer to it later on when I realize just how badly I f#$ked it up.

Oh, I downloaded it a few days ago.  I just wanted to figure out what I ULTIMATELY wanted with my SFC-OP before I installed anything.  So far so good, by the way, with the above installation.

Hey Pestalence!

Okay, so my megainstall went great, and your OPEnhancementPack2.0 saved a boatload of time.  Thanks a lot.

Some totally trivial issues to fix:
(1) After installation, there is a shortcut to "Taldren ModViewer" but the ModViewer is not included in the pack, so it is a dead link (which would be best fixed by the inclusion of the Taldren ModViewer).

(2) The Batch file for restoration to Storyline Mode is missing an "echo" on one of the lines should one choose to execute the batch file, but ALREADY be in Storyline Mode (an echo in the text before the word "to" at the bottom of the file).

(3) After the EnhancementPack2.0 finishes all the installation, it would be great to find a way to automate the mess of start menu links under a single consolidated folder.  For me, under Computer Games>Starfleet Command Orion Pirates> I have 2 folders: Taldren and Fan Created Content.  The "Taldren" folder has all the released OP stuff, and the Taldren Mod Viewer.  The "Fan Created Content" folder has everything else in subfolders.

(4) (Obviously) upgrade to OP+3.4.  But, on second thought, I think it MIGHT be better to just remove OP+ altogether, but better incorporate OP ModChooser 6.5.  Why? Because anyone who is devoted enough to download the Enhancement Pack is going to be devoted enough to download OP+ anyway.  OP+ gets updated fairly frequently, and it's  a huge ass file.  So this will reduce the size of the pack to just all the significant patches, utilities, and mission scripts.

Besides, for OPModChooser to work, it needs to be installed first, THEN OP+ installed, THEN OPModChooser has to be RUN to flag the Mod.  I'm not sure you could automate that (but I could be wrong).

(5) Incorporate Firesoul's recently released automated post-patch fixes file.  Note that this Post-patch fix file should make the desktop icon link for SFC OP link to the proper "StarFleetOP.exe" file automatically and hence one doesn't need to manually change it as is described in your readme IIRC.

That's about all I can think of.  So actually with the removal of OP+ from the pack (unless you can automate it's proper installation as a recognized mod via OPModChooser65) should bring the size of the pack back down and focus its scope.  So the Enhancement Pack won't contain MODS, but it will, in one quick step, do all the post patch fixes, integrate all the dominant 3rd party mission scripts that have become de facto standard, AND integrate all the most important SFC OP utilities.  While it WON'T install SFC OP+, it'll provide the means for easy switching around with it via ModChooser, and you won't have to update the EnhancementPack everytime anyone updates their Mod (though the enhancement pack would have to be updated when anyone updates an included UTILITY).

Just a thought.

Thanks for the pack again.  Works great!
