« on: August 14, 2004, 02:21:17 pm »
i have a copy of SFC2 that i paid for.  bought years ago to try and play it now.
it says invalid cd key.
in talking with my friend that also has the game, i have an invalid key on my jewel case.
mine only has 4 groupings of 4.  his has 5 groupings of 4.
ideas on what i should do or how i can make my game work?

I'm waiting for somebody to tell me this is wrong.

You have a key for SFC:OP which is a better game now that it is fully patched. You will miss out on nothing if you can get somebody to send you a copy of the SFC:OP CD so that you can use your purchased key to play OP instead.

In the past Interplay would have replaced your key next working day but that won't happen now.

Not sure I can be bothered, but as you are the Doc, can you run an AI standard patrol in 2 minutes in a KRC? If so, there is no problem and I am utterly wrong. If you cannot, then the KRC is a worse ship for AI missions than ones I know can.

A little more detail:

Interplay goofed and shipped some EAW CDs with a 4x4 CD-key pattern.

Unfortunately, EAW uses a 5x4 pattern.  Orion Pirates (OP) uses the 4x4 pattern, and we believe (unless I happened to miss the post confirming) that Interplay put OP key codes on EAW cases...

Hence Cleaven's remark, of getting a (backup) copy of OP to use the legitimate OP keycode you received with your EAW disk.  Unfortunately, the supplier of legitimate EAW keycodes (Interplay) is hard-to-reach these days...

The fun thing, you can download copies of the original EAW campaigns and play them on OP.  I haven't played EAW single-player in ages, and haven't played EAW's D2 since the last main campaign there...
