Mine is a PC not a Mac and I am using Black as my background.I prefer white but there are only 3 skin types no white just like word.

I was asking about Macs because I just learned the other day that Macs by default use a different gamma than PCs do.  I suspect that is not news to most people but it was to me.

The blue on this forum is fairly dark on my monitor and causes eye strain after a bit.  I was curious to see if there was a technical reason why it works better for Chris or Age.

Not why, but how.  I do not think you would be doing it if it gave you a headache to read it.  So if there is no technical difference I will attribute it to my bad eyes.

I will say this that ever since I started using Blue my postings have improved.There were time back in the 60s and prior that led people to have eye problems.This tended them to wear glasses for the rest of their lives.This known fact and as a result led the way to green boards and yellow chalk in all class rooms in all schools.

   White on Black is more of a strain than blue.This is the reason I am posting in it.When there are more skins on the lighter side then I will stop.I know Taldrens boards were like this and I didn't like it either so I switched to daylight green.I still have that over at SFC3.net.I am in a dark room btw to prevent glare.They can add more skin to this place all it takes is taking the site down for a day and adding them.This is just inform you and yes Chris Si always used blue and Tremok always used white.

I agree (maybe maroon is worse), although I will say EFF Age's long blue post is a pain to read as well.  Blue w/ Bold is definately much of an improvement.  Orange is very easy to read (I like it better than white).

Whatever you do don't use black, unless you want to have a hidden messsage (useful for spoilers and such).  I remember when Taldren switched to their newer boards, I used black a lot early to hide text, I can't remember why anymore, though

I just don't read the blue posts anymore. The lack of contrast hurts my eyes. That and I tend to think if someone does not feel what they have to say is important enough to make it legible, it's not important enough for me to make the effort to make it legible.

Color catches the eye much faster, as I zip through big threads.

Blue also reminds me of old sci-fi movies, but I'm starting toi like the green.
