The author has a point, and I'm trying to prove it further by seeing if you guys can see this. I mean, with a black background and black font, can you seriously read this without highlighting the text on here? I mean, sure, blue can be useful to find your posts but, it also makes people squint and take longer to read posts. (Back to the default color.)

The normal default text color does fine, and I read faster that way. But if you like to use blue though, there's nothing I can do to stop you. That's your right, your preference and I shouldn't bad-mouth anyone for that reason. Here's a good color. I claim it! As I keep thinking, the idea of color-coding your posts to find them is not such a bad idea...

I think this thread'll die very quick, not much relevance came out of it.

Mine is a PC not a Mac and I am using Black as my background.I prefer white but there are only 3 skin types no white just like word.

The blue on this forum is fairly dark on my monitor and causes eye strain after a bit. I was curious to see if there was a technical reason why it works better for Chris or Age.

Not why, but how. I do not think you would be doing it if it gave you a headache to read it. So if there is no technical difference I will attribute it to my bad eyes.

I will say this that ever since I started using Blue my postings have improved.There were time back in the 60s and prior that led people to have eye problems.This tended them to wear glasses for the rest of their lives.This known fact and as a result led the way to green boards and yellow chalk in all class rooms in all schools.

White on Black is more of a strain than blue.This is the reason I am posting in it.When there are more skins on the lighter side then I will stop.I know Taldrens boards were like this and I didn't like it either so I switched to daylight green.I still have that over at SFC3.net.I am in a dark room btw to prevent glare.They can add more skin to this place all it takes is taking the site down for a day and adding them.This is just inform you and yes Chris Si always used blue and Tremok always used white.

I agree (maybe maroon is worse), although I will say EFF Age's long blue post is a pain to read as well. Blue w/ Bold is definately much of an improvement. Orange is very easy to read (I like it better than white).

Whatever you do don't use black, unless you want to have a hidden messsage (useful for spoilers and such). I remember when Taldren switched to their newer boards, I used black a lot early to hide text, I can't remember why anymore, though $:-\$

I just don't read the blue posts anymore. The lack of contrast hurts my eyes. That and I tend to think if someone does not feel what they have to say is important enough to make it legible, it's not important enough for me to make the effort to make it legible.

Color catches the eye much faster, as I zip through big threads.

Blue also reminds me of old sci-fi movies, but I'm starting toi like the green.

Optometrists will tell you that good contrast is essential to not tiring your eyes out when staring at the terminal for umpteen hours per week. Otherwise, your eye vision will eventually deteriorate.

I know that....staring at a monitor won't hurt eyes anymore than reading a book for hour-on-end. But, low contrast makes my eyes hurt in the same way low refresh rates or super-tiny fonts gives me a migraine. There may be no long-term damage, but in the short-term in hurts like hell.

Screening device test, novice drivers (2) Where a novice driver has been brought to a stop by a police officer under the authority of this Act and has provided a sample of breath under section 48 which, on analysis registers "Pass", but the police officer reasonably suspects that the novice driver has alcohol in his or her body, the police officer may, for the purposes of determining compliance with the regulations respecting novice drivers, demand that the novice driver provide within a reasonable time such a sample of breath as, in the opinion of the police officer, is necessary to enable a proper analysis of the breath to be made by means of a provincially approved screening device and, where necessary, to accompany the police officer for the purpose of enabling such a sample of breath to be taken. Surrender of licence (3) Where, upon demand of a police officer made under subsection (2), a novice driver fails or refuses to provide a sample of breath or provides a sample of breath which, on analysis by a provincially approved screening device, registers "Presence of Alcohol", the police officer may request the novice driver to surrender his or her driver's licence. Same (4) Where a novice driver has been brought to a stop by a police officer under the authority of this Act and has provided a sample of breath under section 48 which, on analysis registers "Warn", "Alert" or "Presence of Alcohol", or, upon demand of a police officer made under section 254 of the Criminal Code (Canada), fails or refuses to provide a sample of breath, the police officer may request the novice driver to surrender his or her licence. Suspension of licence for twelve hours (5) Upon a request being made under subsection (3) or (4), the novice driver to whom the request is made shall forthwith surrender his or her driver's licence to the police officer and, whether or not the novice driver is unable or fails to surrender the licence to the police officer, his or her licence is suspended and invalid for any purpose for a period of twelve hours from the time the request is made.
