BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES!
« on: August 12, 2004, 11:57:02 am »
We got a blow a-comin'! The dynamic duo of Bonnie and Charlie are stirrin' up trouble down here in the Sunshine State. Preparations are bein' made. If the resident Fleridians here (AJTK, Lord Krueg, moi, etc) don't report back within the next week, call the National Guard! Wish us luck! :help:

Famous last words...
I've lived here all my life. They must be taken seriously. And this one could be quite powerful by the time it gets here, according to the news.
And to think we almost got a house on the bay a few years ago. 10-15 foot tidal surge expected there.  :o

I live in south central Louisiana. We partied while Andrew belted us(we got the extreme western edge of that one). Then, 2 years ago, we got slammed head on by Lili. Next time, I'm going to Shreveport to wait it out. ;)

best o luck to all of ya down in fl - this one looks nasty. been in one once (thanks uncle sam) was one hell of an experience flyin through the mug in a UH-60 (mitch was the name of that sob) even more of an experience to see one of the local towns (comeagua hocuras) half gone after we had finished our mission and were comin back - an that was 75 miles inland and at about 1500 feet elevation. if they are sayin tis one looks rough and is headed your way dont mess around - button everything up cover the windows (i understand that plywood on both sides helps) and ride out the storm as best you can (if they evacuate your area dont mess around and put rescue workers at risk - pack up and go right then)

"when the seas are rough an the weather is rougher the women at home are tough and their sailors are tougher"

i say again best of luck to all of y'all in this upcomein blow

While I will leave the OBVIOUS plethora of possiblites with the "a blow a comin" and "good luck with the blow" for others to explore, it is already a wee bit nasty from whats left of Bonnie floating on over.

Had a few twisters touch down in Jax where I work, typical small Florida ones. Not like that F-5 we got back in 98 fortunately.

Now just getting ready for a possible F-3 Hurricane to make land fall aboot 150 away, right at LordK's doorstep. Good luck with it LK, your most likely gonna get the full force of this puppy, Id suggest castling! ;)

Hopefully it wont be that bad, but you do have to take em seriously when they get above class 2 if your inland.

Good luck to anyone in the path of this crap... and REMEMBER...

ITS FLUF's FAULT!

I'm glad I live inland and not on the coast here in Tampa.

I just heard our local sports radio station, 620 Wdae The Sports Animal, playing "Hurricane Songs" like "Bad Moon Rising" by CCR and "Thunderstruck" by ACDC. I'm suprised I haven't heard "Riders Of The Storm" yet...

They are also projecting Charley to be a LEVEL 3 hurricane by the time he hits Tampa...

Hang in there fellow Floridians and be safe!

They should have named the storm Clyde instead of Charley.

Track keeps moving West, will allow the storm to continue gaining strength, Tampa could get a pretty hard hit.

We're gonna wait it out, we're far enough inland we're in evac. zone D (on an ABC scale) C and down are under mand. evac orders. Just waiting out the last couple hours now before the storm starts affecting us. Then a few more hours before the center crosses almost directly over us. Wonder if "the eye" will cross us...? That would be kinda cool, to be in the supposed calm in the eye.
Going to unplug most of the major things, inc computer as storm get's closer. Just in case...
The sad thing...still know a few people living near the coast who refuse to leave...the fools. Good thing they not real close friends, no loss when they wash out to sea...

Anybody trying to wait it out on the coastline is a bit loony. My frat brothers used to rent a house on Navarre Beach near Pensacola every May. I can't remember if it was Andrew or another hurricane, but the storm surge from one hurricane literally wiped it out.

PS Just saw the latest track. If you live in Fort Myers, it's time to bug out. Looks like it's veering northeast. And it's been upgraded to Cat-4.

Don't forget to take your game disks with and CD keys with you. That goes to all and I hope everything turn out well for you.I hope your houses are still standing when it's over. This is unlike an earthquake which can happen at any second where I live and there is no warning..

145 miles per hour. Even though Tampa isn't going to get hit directly, we're still in for one hell of a storm.

Good thing I bought enough food and spirits on Thursday. Even Wal-Mart closed at 10am. I bet even 7-11's are shut down. I know my butt is staying put!

Hey LK, looks like ya MIGHT not get the chance to check out the eye like ya wanted, lol. Hopefully, it looks at tho it is going to go east of you AND me, but who knows? It took a pretty sharp turn there, and cant seem to decide exactly where to go. If you live in Port Charlotte, your just got caught with your pants around yer ankles.

I know Ive got my icy cold bottle of Cuervo 1800 and Im gonna stay up all night to see what happens. Still supposed to be a hurricane, maybe even a cat-2 when it comes my way all the way up here in Starke, sheesh.

Ah well, a few good slugs of 1800 and Ill go out and try out Corbos "bean poll" against the hurricanes winds and see which one is stronger!
