Old Friend of Mine Nearly Killed by Lightning
« on: August 10, 2004, 04:12:19 pm »
Joe is an old friend. We were best friends from 1st grade to well into college.
Although our careers took us down differing paths and I moved to CA, we still keep in touch.
In fact, I just went back 2 months ago to hang with the guys in N. Wisconsin doing the "poker-fishin'-drinking" thing.

Not 2 weeks later, this happens:

He and his girlfriend are should fully recover... but it was nasty.
His girlfriend is absolutely correct: "no matter what we think, no matter what we try to do, ultimately nature is in charge."

Savor every moment folks. You never know.....

Man , sorry to hear about this DM. Of course they are in my prayers.

I'm just happy you've still got 'em around to call on.

My son fell of a bicycle a few days ago and he looked really bloody.  When we got to the ER, he was put at the end of the line for observations by docs and nurses, scans, everything, because the five or six or seven others, even those who came in afterwards, also for bicycle accidents, were in worse shape.

It turns out, though he's still in a little pain, his wounds were all superficial.  I'm just happy I've still got him to slap around (or is it the other way 'round??)

Yeah, no matter how good the engineering, planning, or prevention, the forces of nature are still overwhelming.  My best regards to your friends on surviving and getting back to full health.  May they enjoy each other and their friends for a long time more.

Jezz sorry to hear that dude. You woulda thought he'd win the lottery or somethin...I mean that's what they say winning the lottery is like.

Gotta make em laugh a bit =) But seriously hope he makes a complete recovery and will laugh right along with ya in time.
