Epic campaign with spectacular real-time battles in breathtaking motion-picture quality

Jump right into the action; take command of more than 80 weapons and over 80 other devices.

Unprecedented fleet customization

Flexible star map system with planet movement based on real physics

Zoom in on stunning objects in an expansive, fully 3D universe.

Multiplayer via Internet and LAN with diverse missions and modes

Create new content with extensive, incorporated modding tools.         hmmm.....

the trailer looks stunning....

Ive played the game and yes it does have similarities with SFC3 in that you can refit the ships.  The overall game is good but the ship movment systme leaves you feeling that maybe your not always in control of the ship.  A mod "Star-Trek: Age of war" was released some time ago (not got a link sorry) which brought many SFC3 players to the game. Some still play it, I personally have moved on but I can say that the game had real potential, nice engine too with convincing graphics and a true 3d space environment.  If you find it for budget prices then its worth the cost.  Hope this helps :)

I pretty much agree with Kaos, the overall game was quite good but steering the ships sometimes drove me nuts. One other thing that was a little frustrating is that while you can zoom out and look at the rest of the galaxy you couldn't actually go there, you had to fallow the missions.

true the only way you can move your ship is if their is something else relative to it IE enemy ship or something its a punch and click navigation you can also rip somebody's ship apart with only lasers since they are designed to penetrate shields and dissable systems so you can strip  a vessel of everything even if they had Shields full power and undamaged

The star trek mod download is only at file planet and it looks like I have to pay for it. Simply logging in with gamespy id info says that I am in, but won't allow a download.
