Hmm...do the CCX ships have enough internals?
« on: July 20, 2004, 03:33:15 pm »
Hey I'm luvin the new 3.3 but I have to say those CCX ships blow up rather easy.  Just wondering If they have enough internals to match their offensive output.  Doesn't take much.  Shift=Z on some models and one strike.

It's over.

And I'm talking about all races.  Should there be an "armored version" with a slight increase in movement cost? 1.15?  or something...dunno  (tinker tinker tinker)

I have also heard some grumbles from players saying there shouldn't be X ships in late.  I am assuming that these are very LAte era X ships and that it is ok but need an SFB guru to confirm that.

The ships used to be in Advanced but the last patch changed the year from 2291 to 2300. Therefore the X stuff introduced as precursor to the Taldren-created beasties ended up in the tail end of Late instead of the void beginning of Advanced overnight.

Well thanks for giving it a shot Age.  Perhaps I can go into the mod forums and ask.  Firesoul made the shiplist from official SFB stuff.  I havent looked at it yet actually.  You usually parse the thing into an excel file and start doing analysis which is what I'm going to have to do I think.  But i don't remember if you can calculate total internals that way...I thought there was a catch to it.

Also there us to be a modding thingy from Eagle Eye which helped a lot in determining things.  The only problem with that is getting the right version.

ShipEdit is still around. Typically you install the EAW one then "patch" it with the OP installer.

To get Shipedit OP go to www.nightsoft.net/effhq/ and look at the little ship at the bottom for utilities.

hehe and I suppose this thread should be dead but I am saving bandwidth.

Ok I got a film of that illustrates my point.

I decided to play an FFA in multiplayer AI mode (single player in multiplayer that is).  All the ships were Gorn late ERA X or early adv era X except mine which was the Gorn XSC or XDD Gorn light Cruiser.  Other ships were CMX, HDX and CCX.

At first the CMX and my XDD(?) (the one with the snare) are paired off and I do a bit of running.   The CCX and the HDX are going one on one.

After a little jostling I decide to mine the chasing CMX and it moves off toward the other two.  The CMX catches the CCX from behind and lowers its hull bar to 1/2 then moves on after the HDX.  I come up behind the CCX and blow him up with a E and a G torp.  Dubious for a Gorn to blow up like that.

But the real kicker comes next.

The HDX and the CMX decide to "ram" each other but the stupid HDX doesn't have any plasma.  The CMX, whose front shield is down, BUT still has 90% on his hull bar, fires an S and an R torp.  The HDX blows up ...understandable.   It's just a late ERA light cruiser and that a bit of damage since it's hull bar was at 75%.

But I was not expecting the explosion of the HDX to completly destroy the CMX, bare hull or not.  That ship had about 90% internals left.

Anyway I still think something is leaky about CCX/CMX/HDX etc class ship internals.  And I got the film in SFC OP.
