So tell the guy to put in an extra fan already! Or, they have fans that take up a pci slot, (actually plug into the pci slot) and suck hot air directly off the vid card and have ducting to blow the hot air out the back of the pc. There are lots of options.

Speaking of the case, you let Kroma pick it out? Um, having a TuTu around the case might make it more flammable, just FYI.

Actually I'll probably just take it somewhere else and have the stuff put in. Guy I went to had the best prices (that I found) in the city but the conversation went like

Me "So I'd like an AMD 3200.."
Him "You want Intel "
"No I think I'd like the AMD 3200+ and..."
"You really want to go with Intel, here's a buncha benchmarks that show Intel is better"
"But everyone I talked to online said Intel is better for rendering and stuff, but AMD is better for games"
"They don't know what they're taling about, they're the same thing"

Me " So it was suggested I grab an 450w power supply"
Him "You'll never need anyhitng more than the 420 the case comes with"
-"But I was told some PS are better quality than others"
"They're all the same, you're fine"

Me "So should I get more cooling for this?"
Him "You have 2 fans in the case, that's more than you'll ever need"

Of course looking at some systems online 2 fans doesn't seem like alot.

The guy has great prices (for here) and actually believes he's saving me money. It's quite possible he's right and that I won't need more cooling or power. It's just when almost everyone's system online seems to have more than 2 fans I'm wondering why...

Hexx, the guy is full of shat. There is a reason they make liquid cooling systems for pcs, for Kirks sake, lol!

Two fans with a high speed processor and a top o the line graphics card AINT gonna cut it. TRUST ME.

And all powersupplies are NOT created equal. Some have multiple fans to run cooler. Some run very quiet. Some cheap ones run hot and noisy. Do some research. Or go with what Kroma said. They guy at the store is just trying to sell you what he WANTS to sell you chief, same as anywhere else you go.

Goto www.overclockers.com and read what they say about case cooling. And look at all the homemade water cooling systems people have made, there is one designed like the cooling tower for a nuke reactor for christs sake. All that work aint gonna be done if pcs only need 2 fans, lol!

Hell, my FACTORY laptop im on right now as my desktop just went tits up the other day is a P-4 2.8 with a GF 5200 and it has 3 fans in its wee case and IT shuts down all the time when Im gaming due to overheating! Ive gotta keep it where the exhaust fan blows out into open space, I have to put spacers under the back of the case so it can suck more cool air and it still cuts off sometimes. Im gonna have to resort to what I did with my Commodore 64 back in the day... buy a regular fan and put it next to the case and keep the case cool, and freeze my ballz off the whole time Im using it, lol!

I have one... not including the fan on my vid card (which I overclock). lol
