Multiplayer Missions: Team Starfleet Battles for OP version 3.0
« on: September 15, 2004, 10:12:26 am »
Team SFB is basically a customized multiplayer mission pack containing 8 missions in one script.
Think of it as a cousin of "Co-Op Ace" with mission objectives such as defending a crippled ship or suprise attacking a base station.

The Host selects the missions and settings from the dialog to play the game. Make sure you select the appropiate maps for the mission you select.
This custom mission is ideal for training, avoiding the nasty 3 way ffa, or if you just want to try something new. This mission set will work with the standard SFC OP version as well as Firesouls OP+ 3.4.

Simply download the file and install. No need to browse the installer, it will locate SFC2 Orion Pirates as long as you have it installed.
The dialog (Team Starfleet Battles.exe) short cut will appear on your desktop to allow the host or user to select the missions.
I will have more descriptions of this mission added to the 12 omega downloads page by next week. For now you can get the mission from this thread.

How will this effect the missions in the Enhancement Pack made by Pestalence. That is located in the D2 forum.I sounds nice but I wonder how it would effect the E Pack. The missions are NWs.

From what I know about that Enhancement Pack, Team SFB should have no effect since its a multiplayer mission (starting with a "Mul_" extension) that has nothing to do with the Dyna or Dyna missions that start with "Met_".
When I think about it I do not see how any missions by other Mission Scripters can have an effect on the Enhancement Pack since it deals with server issues.

Missions are a different animal than mods and / or server kits, but often get mistaken for one or the other.  In a nutshell the ".scr files" (located in assets//scripts) are just modules containing actions and events (such as creating objects / ships and victory conditions, etc.) that are read by the engine.

Can these missions be used in the single player mode?

You do not have to be on GSA to play multiplayer missions.
If you want to play Team SFB by yourself click on your SFC OP desktop shortcut, select "Multiplayer"->then "Host".
You will see "Team Starfleet Battles 3.0" on the mission select menu.
Make sure you select your mission and settings from the dialog before launching the game.
