This is a very easy one to answer but does anyone know where I can find a list of the ships in EAW and OP showing which ships are best to choose for each side.
I seem to always pick the wrong ship when playing EAW on Gamespy.
Also - anyone know where I can get a copy of OP. I have looked all over Sydney for it and while Amazon in the US sells it (there does not appear to be an Amazon Australia site) - I cannot find a seller willing to freight it to Australia.
Anyone please please help!!

The problem is that each shiplist version has its own best and worst ships. The best ship in stock might be toned down in dyna.
Anyhow, there are only two (published) guides that fits your description:
First is SFCShadows Brady Games Printed Guide. (tho outdated, the info is still MOSTLY correct)
Then there is Novas NT Ship Guide: (the last comphrensive commented ship guide for SFC2 in existence that I am aware of)

Those two focus on stock builds, if you play mods, you would realize things are VASTLY different.
Since the game is constantly changing, the static, published guides rarely are able to keep up. (I guess that why there are few of them) My suggestions are:
1. Word of mouth. Ask around and read up on what everyone is saying about the ships.
2. ShipEdit. Although it offers no commentary on the quality of the ships but it at least offers an easy to access interface.
3. Use excel and read the shiplist your self... (this may sound geekish. but to paraphrase what they say in the matrix movie, once you have seen enough of it, you no longer see the codes and letters and dashs, you see explosions and power beams..)
