Who else is getting pissed at these Sci-Fi Commercials?
« on: July 23, 2004, 11:29:25 pm »
I see a commercial for Earthsea, and my mouth drools at another boyhood fantasy come to life.

I see Farscape and I feel the anger and angst, and pure emotional outburst of that last moment in the series all over again, and then I see "Peacekeeper Wars" and think 'eat your heart out George Lucas'.

Then they show Battlestar Galactica, and I whimper in pain from overload.

They are TOO FAR into the future for my sanity!

EarthSea looks good.  It's based on a book?  Never heard of it.

I've never watched Farscape so it doesn't do anything for me.

I must have fast forwarded through the PeaceKeeper Wars commercial.  Never heard anything about it either.

Battlestar Galactica could be interesting though.

The Wizard of EarthSea, by Ursula K. LeGuin.  It is a hallmark of fantasy at its best.

I suggest Gambler going out and buying them right now.Its one of my all time favorite series.I'm not too sure how I feel about the sci-fi channel doing a series on it though.

I haven't seen much on the Sci-Fi channel work...but well after their last rendition of Dune, I do have to admit that I'm heartily optimistic.

I read rumor once that they were going to do a miniseries based on Roger Zelazny's "Amber" books.  Those are my all-time favorite and I really hope it is true...

SciFi is pushing the envelope... I like it.

I have always liked SG1 & really got into Far Scape once I started watching it...

Stargate Atlantis looks like it can be very good also. (Good characters so far)

Bringing back Far Scape to finish it right.  Good job.

I think BSG will do well even with the new twist... I just hope they don't keep writing in Starbuck as such an a-shole.

There is a prequel series being written by John Beatencourt.  Two of the books are already out.  He has done a good job with them and they are good stories, but he doesn't have the same flair that Zelazny had in his writing style.

If I could choose any author to write additional Amber books it would be Steven Brust.  His Vlad Taltos books have a sort of simillar feel in the writing.

I would love to see it on film.  I am terrified that they would botch it (like that god-awful Riverworld movie that SciFi did).  If anything I would love to actually see what the Pattern looked like.  *smile*

(BTW: I am coming dangerously close to hijacking the thread here!)

I'm so damn angry I threw my plastic Origional series replica phaser at the TV set. I even made the phaser sound, but to no avail, apparently it is life...but not as we know it.

don't know about that

I see Farscape and I feel the anger and angst, and pure emotional outburst of that last moment in the series all over again, and then I see "Peacekeeper Wars" and think 'eat your heart out George Lucas'.

farscape is more and more boring, peacekeeprs war i don't know that show

Then they show Battlestar Galactica, and I whimper in pain from overload.

the 1st galactica series is good, the 2th in there future is stupid since the must live for don't know howlong in there ship and its not a transport ship and the can't build ship since there no spaceport to do it or place on heart to build a space ship that size, the new serie movie seem a bad imitation of voyager for what i have read.

They are TOO FAR into the future for my sanity!

well i don't know, starwars seem to be in this galaxie or the know this galaxie since in the remake of rotj it seem that at the end we see the big ben and the chrysler building, so there verry far in the future.
