New Particle Retexture Ready for Download
« on: July 24, 2004, 07:19:17 pm »
First of the 3 is up. The textures have been fixed up just a tiny bit, just to made it look a little nicer. It is two years old after all. lol  ;)

Story:
The first and only ship of the class, the USS Delta 3 was built in total secrecy by Starfleet Special Operations in 2503 to counter growing threats by various stellar nations. With the concept of looking back to go forward, the Particle was stripped down to the frame and completely reassembled with dozens of "new" systems. Secondary Cargo bays were modified as missile storage bays to store the vast supply of ammo needed to fuel the ships heavy weapons. The type of heavy armor plating used on the ships hull prevented the use of Phaser Arrays, engineers created a type of retractable turret that are manned by crew and manually fired by the stations inside. While still able to fire Quantum torpedoes via the old launcher under the saucer section, the low complement of them onboard the ship makes them only used when necessary, but the Quantum is no match for the swarms of missiles fired from other parts of the ship. The alloy used for hull also prevented the use of heavy shield generators, only a light deflector is able to be equipped, but the armor more then makes up for it as the ship can take massive damage and still maintain operational status. Not many lived to report an attack by this ship. Very little knew about it until its second refit to a stealth ship 4 years later. Fast, maneuverable, and heavily armed - the Delta Class is more then a match for anyone that challenges the might of the Federation.

The other two will be up soon. I'd like opinions good and bad, every little bit helps to improve on my next ones.

Thanks to MrCue for the webspace!
Thanks to Atolm/Azel for the coolest design ever!  ;D
Thanks to Lord Vader for the awesome model!
YOU GUYS ROCK!

I makes me think of the long defunct series, Space: Above and Beyond in that the ships are not sleek-pretty as they are in Star Trek.  I'd think that if some defense contractor had to slap something big and scary together for the Government that could repel and chase off big bad aliens and not raise taxes too much, it'd look something like this, good looking in a rough, tough kind of way, as it may in real life.

Exactly the look I was going for! ;D I was watching the movie Lost in Space a million times when I was making it, it inspired alot of the look.

Well anyways....

Here is the 2nd Refit. The Archangel Class.

http://www.battleclinic.com/docks/dock.php?r=federation#689

Story:
After being discovered by the Romulans, the USS Delta 3 was ambushed and heavily damaged in a battle with a fleet of over a dozen warships. Heading back to Federation space on reserve power, the ship made it back to space dock with massive hull damage. Federation officials insisted the ship be dismantled, saying repairs would be too costly. Special Operations had other plans. Once again the ship was stripped down to the frame and completely rebuilt. Using a mix of the original armor plating and durable Titanium Aluminum the ship was given a thin layer of internal armor along with an exterior stealth armor plating of an experimental alloy. The twin layer armor provides heavy protection while blocking electronic signature. Also installed on the ship were several sensor jamming units, and a cloaking device. The ship has many omni-weapon ports that allow a vast array of weapons to be installed in any area. The ship is extremely adaptable and can be upgraded with ease. The design was duplicated on several other ships. A silent hunter in the darkness, the Archangel Class refits proved to be a great success and helped aid the Federation?s victory in what would come to be called the ?Tholian Wars?

Hope you like it :)

Dark Knight Class

Heres the last one. The Dark Knight.

http://www.battleclinic.com/docks/dock.php?r=federation#690

Story:
The most recent of the Particle Class refits, it is a perfect merge of the Stealth and Retro-Assault versions. The hull has the same stealth armor as the Archangel with a heavy layer of the composite alloy used in the Delta Class. The ship is equipped with 8 Particle Beam Cannons, 8 Missile Launchers, and a set of twin Ultra-Heavy Particle Beams. The twin cannons possess terrifying power, and can make a crater the size of Texas on a planet?s surface. The cannons require a vast amount of power to fire, to compensate for this the ship has 2 excess warpcores (in addition to the 3 in main engineering) in the saucer linked directly to the cannons. The ship is the first to be equipped with a pulse deflector array on the side of the hull, allowing it to turn while at warp. Due to large costs and lack of recourses during wartime, the ships were built in heavy numbers. Some still exist in the Federation Special Operations fleets, and are used mainly in securing sectors of space and assaulting planetary targets. It set the bar high in Special Ops engineering, and it has proven to be a valuable asset to the Federation over and over again. I don?t suppose this is the last we will see of the Particle Class refits.

This is my favorite of the three. I hope you guys like it as much as I do. :)

Ah, almost forgot... Made these pics of the ship. My monitor appears to be darker then most peoples (even though it is on the highest setting) so there are two versions, a normal... normal for me anyways lol, and a darker one for those of you with brighter screens. :)

These are neat ships. I especially like the lack of symmetry on your retextures.
