I got the impression in the past that it's some kind of relic from SFC1 for a storyline mission... Anyone confirm/deny?

An N-Pyr is simply a portable Kzin Hibachi grill for roasting Feds, although it can be used for other races as well.

Personally I like my meals raw for the most part, but there are some Kzin gourmets who like to experiment with new flavors..... ;D

Looks like Neutral PYRamid.

I believe they had plans for this model, but never implemented them in the campaign.  Outside of that, all I've seen it in are a few enigma patrols (the one where you get 90 PP for beaming something off a dead ship)

Skull used it for one of his early Doctor Strangelove campaigns as part of the Doctor's fleet.

The PYR is carried by Federation starships and is used to discard yeomen who are no longer performing up to the captain's standards, most often because of excessive irritability and moodiness. This disfunctional crew members are left behind with a supply of salty snacks until picked up by the next starship.

It stands for Premenstrual Yeomen Receptacle.

Silly boy.

They were the satellite ships for my Andros in the Four Power War server; cleverly disguised so that players would not immediately know what they were.

(OK, that's what I used them for.  I have no real answer.)

I enjoyed that server a great deal, though it was somewhat controversial in design... was damn tough...
