HOW DARE YOU ASK SUCH A SCURLOUS QUESTION!

hehe...j/k

I think its nerves more than anything...

Taldren shut down...face it...it's been the online anchor for many of us...from a bunch of game nuts...through the 2000 elections...through 911..through the War on terror...we have remained a community...

Conspiracy theories about the new forums.... :skeptic:

Conspiracy theories about XC... :screwloose:

Spammer's came to slam taldren in its death.... >:(

LB5 flamage...federation SCUM...hehe j/k :-*

Harry's interview...and the flamage it caused... by raising the SFC2/3 debate from the grave... :-\

Scorce code limbo... :banghead:

Flames about source code limbo... :banghead:

Conspiracy theories about source code limbo... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

No...I think everything is about normal...might be a few peeps just reacting to it a little differently... ;D

If ANYONE is really getting stressed.....just take a freakin break...we'll be here when you come back... 8)

Which community?

Not sure I can be bothered, but as you are the Doc, can you run an AI standard patrol in 2 minutes in a KRC? If so, there is no problem and I am utterly wrong. If you cannot, then the KRC is a worse ship for AI missions than ones I know can.

Where's the "No, looks pretty normal to me" option? Or "No, not ALL have"?

From what I've read, the majority of the debates taking place in this particular forum have been pretty civil.

Things have been pretty intense of late, but there have been other conflicts before that were much more intense.  We just forget them.  The recent Flame Wars were skirmishes, really, and most of the  participants cooled off pretty quickly

I hope you do not refer to Firesoul's problems with thievery as a divisive community issue. Frankly, I thought the way people rallied to his cause was a unifying event.

There are people in the D2 that annoy me sometimes, but this recent situation wiht Firesoul really creeped me out.  I mean, we're talking about FIRESOUL here. This is a guy that gave a MASSIVE amount  of his time and talents to the ENTIRE community, and he was basically mugged.  The recent robbery of intellectual property HAD to be addressed.  If anything, I thought the D2 response to Firesoul's troubles was quite muted.

In the old days, the WGL site would have gone down and STAYED down(thank to a joint operation between the Tal Sh'iar, and Section 31) and there would have been a ruthless 24 hour watch on Gamespy to shame the culprits into totally backing down.  The current server would have shut down so that all of us could be posted in Gamespy.

So, no, I do not think things have been abnormal.

Yeah, Chuuts right. I dunno whats gotten into us lately, but we all seem a little on edge and argumentative about everything.

I dont know why... Mb cuz Taldren closed. I think that took some wind out of our sails.

Mb cuz the lack of any really good old fashion campaigns lately. You know when there is a good campaign. Everyone talks about it and everyone is involved.

Mb cuz of all the new uncertainty of the shiplists. We were headed in one direction now there are 2x divergent ideas totally incompatible. I think we are getting tired of this... contantly having to redo our model folders and getting reaquainted with new shiplist stuff. It's putting the players into the testers role and I for one am tired of it.

Mb cuz the missions are screwed, Double ftr bugs, too hard, too easy, blah blah blah. Can't we just all agree on something?

Mb cuz after all this time, all these years we still dont know what the f*ck we want out of a campaign. Someone is always quit-happy about something.

I'm just tired of all these new ideas. All this new BS. I want an old fashion campaign that we know works. Something simple and not ott. I just want to logon and play the game. No politics, over-involvement, 4 page rulebook, or silly complicated D/Leds, just something neat and easy the whole community can throw their weight behind so we can all get on the same server and have fun.

I think I'll take a break and excuse myself from the community for a few days. Mb I'll come back with a happier attitude about all this when I have more time to think about it...

Mb we should all stop and think about what we want out of this game. And mb we can sum it up in 50 words or less. ;)

See ya'll in a few days.

Actually Firesoul I found most of your responses to be quite appropriate.  You were upset and rightfully so, but when the issue was resolved you posted that you were ok with it.  Comparing it to rape was a bit strong for my taste, as I know some rape victims quite well and it can't compare to the OP+ issue, yet I didn't take any real offense at this, we all tend to use gross exaggerations when upset.  So no Firesoul I think you were perfectly ok with the exception of supporting further flames after the resolution was solved by stating things like you found them amusing, which was rather minor.

Painfully reactionary.  These lucky people didn't get to hear half of it though.

Something I have noticed is this very much is a community and you all are friends...almost family.  Family members tend to fight with each other....a LOT.  But you still end up putting up with each other...and in the end everything is good.

Now listen to the bunny and feel happy!
