So, it's been a good day, and a not as good day
« on: July 21, 2004, 10:56:24 pm »
Had to get a retinal laser base test today, since my lab is starting to calibrate fiber optics..so I decided I'd get my physical at the same time (thanks to the military)...well my stess test was fine, cholesterol is OK, but they would like it a little lower...then came the opthamologist...color vision fine..right eye starting to develop cataracts (but not in my line of vision), left eye has macular degeneration (dry stage)...

Not looking for sympathy..just telling you peeps to get regular checkups..I was remiss for a few years because  I feel good, eat good, and have no children in the house to stress me...well, I'm 48, and guess what, this stuff just creeps up on ya...

Get a physical!!  (but get a lady doctor for the prostrate, thier hands tend  to be smaller)

I had my five year physical on Monday.  Everything was fine except the cholesterol.  Had to go back yesterday and see the doctor, they may put me on medicine to help bring it down (223 overall and the tri's were three something I think).  I really need to eat better, given my family history.

No thanks. I dont like people touching my junk without my permission and I never pay for it.

I did get a physical for my new job, pretty much they tested my vision, they told me to read lines 9,8,7,5 and then I read line 11 for the hell of it, just because I could. The doc then wrote something on the paper, maybe "Smartass".

They took a couple X-Rays of my back and all was good, blood pressure is good and thats about all they did.

I should go... the roid's are acting up :P

Aaarrgh!

Pre-presbyopia this year, glasses prescription next year.  The doc told me my age without looking and said it happened to everyone.

well, my wife has been through the cataracts (had both lenses replaced) and sees better than me..I still need my glasses to fall out of bed  :)

All through school the (female) teachers would send me to have my eyes checked claiming I needed glasses.  Each time I would be told "some day - not yet".  I always had eyestrain and headaches in school.   Recently I found out that the eyestrain and headaches were caused by low level exposure to perfume which I am allergic to.   It happens when I am exposed to low (below the conscious level) amounts of perfume over a lengthy time period.

Once I was in higher grades with classroom rotations and more male teachers the eyestrain and headaches diminished with the reduced perfume exposure.  My vision improved greatly.  I also missed far less school due to being ill.

I do now need glasses... for night driving... I don't drive :) .
