A random comment by KF got this going... he mentioned that he liked to use the Okinawa that I'd worked on for a Terran Empire ship.. and that got me thinking. What would *my* idea of how a Terran Empire ship look like?
I started thinking about it, based on the idea of the Big E in "Mirror Mirror".. and the only major differences that were visible were mainly markings. No major differences in nacelles, no major structural changes. So I thought, well.. let's do the marking changes, and see where it goes.
I did the marking changes.. and then I thought about the Terran Empire mentallity. So I made a couple of changes to make it visibly difference from the original Okinawa. I turned the observation deck into a crew torturarium for mass "crew correction" excercises. And then I thought that some feature needed to be there that would be cost efficient, in line with Feddie-style tech, and maybe used in conjunction with agonizer booths. So I added a "spacing booth" above the torturarium.
This is a booth that has a forcefield on the space side, and when the crewman/prisoner comes in, the person running the booth can flick the field on and off, vary the field strength, bring the field in and out.. almost anything. Anyone put in there could be pushed for info, brought into line, whatever. Nasty.
And here was the final product..
And note the crewman in the booth.. That's Ensign Expendable.
Only two others know what crime he's committed, and that's Nanner and KF. Let's just say he's someone that everyone hates.
