IE  Kim's PC(just an example) could have a virus.  It looks in Kim's Address book and sees Jinn and Jeff's addresses.  So it sends J'inn an email that says it's coming from Jeff.  That way when Jinn gets the e-mail, he calls Jeff and tells him he has a virus.  All the time, it's actually Kim's PC with the virus....

I feel so dirty now..... and paranoid.  ;D

What do you mean "now" ?

I'm getting bombarded with e-mails that have obvious virus attachments.    I'm getting them from players.   Tracey, Jeff,  etc. etc.

Somebody's computer forgot to use protection methinks.

Same thing was happening to my hotmail account, I was getting them from people on my contact list, all from this community...so what's going on?

Somebody who has your address in their address book has got a virus (worm). That worm has sent itself to everybody in the address book, and has changed the From Address in the header of the e-mails it has sent. It often uses other addresses from the same address book to stick in the From part of the header, and this disguises who has the worm. Now it would seem that somebody else has also got the worm as well and now there is a little cascade of worm laden e-mails going around infecting more people. Isn't it nice to be known by so many people (who don't have an e-mail scanner)?

Not sure I can be bothered, but as you are the Doc, can you run an AI standard patrol in 2 minutes in a KRC? If so, there is no problem and I am utterly wrong. If you cannot, then the KRC is a worse ship for AI missions than ones I know can.

If anyone gets a virus soaked email from me just know that it was someone else's machine because I've never emailed any of you anything ever, though I've talked to a few of you on MSN.
I was never here, you were never here, this conversation never took place, and you most certainly did not see me.

I see thanks for clarifying that for me, I wasn't sure what was going on.  I got a bunch more of those e-mails today...they seem to still be trickling in.
