A Request from the FoaS...
« on: July 17, 2004, 02:38:43 am »
Hey, I am in need of some help. I tired modelling one, but no matter what i tried, i couldnt get it to work. What i need is basically a City in Space. No not like the Gundum Colonies or the Babylon Station. No, i mean an Atlantis feel from Stargate Atlantis.

Kinda like that.

Many many thanks for your help.

I am using both 3dMax 4 and 6...what format do you need it in?

As far as a feel, i would actually almost like a Gondorian/Numenorian feel, but with some federation thrown in there. I want it to be alien, but used by humans and aliens alike.

Colors of light Marble would be neat

and i really really really like this color, it would make good trim: #0076A2

ok.  im using 4.  as it works best with fsc.

is it for usein the startrek universe?

gondorian archetecture was very much "carved from the living rock"

shall i work on that theam?  i have some ideas

I made it in 6, so ill have to send it to you in 3ds, that okay?

Yes, it is going to be used in the Trek Universe. but again, it wasnt built by humans.

that should be great.

oh its mark.constantine@ntlworld.com

i was thinking the star section floor and central piller would liik cool ot the were carved from white rock...or a pure metal if you like.  like a huge astoroid was carved into it,  the the towers exceera were buit and tonels made exctera.

for an idea of size. could you put a sov or galaxy in a ref pic?

your trim colour?

this is going to take a long long time.

also i will have to remove the bug bit at the botom for a simple reason.   the bace is so big.  if anyone could see it they couldent see the rest.

while im experimenting with different textures,  could you pit domes and/or spiers on any buidings you want to have the numorian look

aren't the cities of the knox from stargate less complex, you could try those, they looked good. A space city wouldn't have that complexity either, considering how much of a pain it would be to prevent all those joints from  leaking...

Im loving the different designs here, keep up the good work.

My only request is dont have the base be rock, I would like to stear away from the idea of Carving out of asteroids (thats for my next design).

hmmm

well the problem is the "carved out of rock"  bit and the "numenorian"  design go hand in hand.  its the way there culture works.

if you can give me a different cultural identaty to work from for the bace ill try.

remember something this big will in all honesy be anciant,  and so something like the gould/ejypt type style would be in order?

throw me a bone here! lol

one was the space city of minus anor/tirith

the other was barad dur.

i had ships to go with it.  on the side of good was the "anduril"

and the side of dark there were 9 "wraiths"

it was going well when i lost interest lol

Okay, im going to rethink outloud.

I would like the Numenorian Color - IE: the color of Minas Tirith, with a trim of the blue i told you before.
The detail i would like to look like it were Atlantis from Stargate Atlantis

you want the "colour" of minus tirith,

thats white rock.

cos it was carved out of..white rock.

sorry if im sounding edantic but i really want to try and get your vision.  but im having trouble imagining it, how you could want something to look like its made out of white rock.  but not look like its made out of white rock.  and im not sure on the "blue" trim thing.

i dont remember much blue from gondor.  black and white was the order of that day.

lol, im a wierd guy, what can I say.

Alright, lets hit the reset button, clean slate.

What is the station?
The station is an ancient alien station used by the federation on the border of their space.
The station is constructed out of an unknown Mineral/Metal ((which has a color scheme much like Minas Tirith))
The station itself was restorted to discover that it had a white/tan/azure blue color scheme.

I would like the color of Minas Tirith + My Blue as a detail trim, and the architecture of Atlantis from Stargate.

As far as adding spires, that would really kick up the Poly number, but i will do so. And please, feel free to modify the model any amount you wish - i dont care, lol.

Sorry for being so difficult. I forget how hard it for a lot of people to get my thinking.

ok.  i understand you a lil now.  can you send me a copy of your "blue" so i can match it.

shame you dident want her black. lol,  orthanc (isengaurd)  was also built by the numenorians.  and you can get awa with that being an alien material a lit easyer heheh

i think mines tirith  marbleised may give the requierd look.  goto look hard as nails.  not "wobbly set"

brain hurts.

id rather not tuch your mesh.  hust ad domes to as much of the city as you want to look old.  and tell me when it was found.  ws it in perfect nick.  or whole areas destrouyed and have bed....federized

adding structures other than buildings is going to take a rebuild, hwich i have no problems with, in fact, if we are going to do this, lets do it right. It just may take me a little longer.

adding domes and spiers shouldent take long.

also for the ultimate in alienness.  try putting bridges half way up 2 taller buildings.
