Foundation Trilogy Move....... WOOHOO!!!

Although it?s called ?I, Robot,? the movie began as an original screenplay, ?Hardwired,? by Jeff Vintar, who co-wrote the computer-generated cartoon, ?Final Fantasy,? and is now working on an adaptation of Asimov?s ?Foundation? trilogy. Akiva Goldman (?A Beautiful Mind?) worked with Vintar on the final script.

Oh I will wait a week in line to see these moves

I'll reserve judgment untiil I learn more. People in the movie inustry have a tendency to totally change pretty much everything in a movie based on a book, or in this case a trilogy, which may be wose. Can you imagine trying to pare down those three books into a single movie?
Only in America .....do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

Cool, I hope we're not disappointed. The Foundation Trilogy was such a wonderful and mind blowing/warping ;) read, I hope the movies live up to it. Either way, nice to see the series get some attention. I think it is time for the ideas contained within to be brought up again.

I doubt very much they could, without reducing Foundation and the first half of Foundation and Empire to a mere prologue.

I'm skeptical that they could do even Foundation as movie as Foundation is essentially a collection of linked short stories, that cover a timespan of decades, which were originally published in magazines.

I'd definitately see a movie, but I feel a better way to present the Foundation series would be for a Sci-Fi Channel miniseries ala Dune.

That was  my take on it.  Foundation was a wonderful book, but it would not work very well for a move.  Unless it was loosely-based, like I, Robot.

Aside from Asimov, did anyone ever read "Hyperion"?  I always thought that it would be the perfect scifi book to turn into a movie.

No, thanks.  The way they have screwed with I, Robot turning it into an action thriller, I don't hold out any hope for a Foundation movie.  Did Asimov die or something that all these flim options are being exercised?

Asimov died....  about 6 months ago?  Asimov was a decent blended writer - action and thinking.  Could be a good movie if Hollywood can keep the action-master demons at bay.

I haven't seen the movie yet..but most of I, Robot was about an interview with Susan Calvin near her retirement, and things that happened during her career...there were no car chases or shooting of robots in the book (I just reread it)...

The worst SF movie of all time was "based" upon the title of a classic Asimov short story: Nightfall.

It was filmed (and I use the term loosely) in the 80's.  Go rent it today.  Then burn it to protect posterity.  The madness has to end.

I remember that film. It was Very poorly done with regards to the Book.

Does anyone Recall Azimovs tv show he on in the 80's? It only lasted a few episodes, But for the Life of me I can't recall the name.

No, I don't recall hearing of this show.  I am intrigued, however.  If you ever remember the name then please post it.  Perhaps I can find it on DVD somewhere.

It would seem to have a closer resemblence to Caves of Steel...haven't seen the movie, but what I would deduce from the movie trailers (If I recall, the book was about a Robot that killed it's master...and the question was how or why, and a detective that didn't trust them too much if I remember...been a while).

I also think the movie was based loosly on an Ellison book...don't know if they credit it or not.

I recall that Book. It was back during the Mercy Killing Faze of the americans. as I recall the Master was suffering, and the Robot obeyed his master by Killing him.
