Has anyone seen the new ThunderBirds promo

My big grip is why did they have to put kids in there. As there was no kids in the Original Except for I think Scott Tracy was the youngest of the 5 sons.

It's bad when the series creator gets cut out...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/3893517.stm

Thunderbirds film 'ignored maker'

Gery Anderson said he would not go and see the film
Gerry Anderson, the man who created 60s puppet TV series Thunderbirds, said he was snubbed by the makers of the forthcoming film, it has been reported.
He said Working Title, the film's co-producers had written him a letter saying his creative services were not required, the Independent reported.

"That's the biggest insult I've ever had in my life. I just cut myself off from the whole thing," Anderson said.

The film, starring Ben Kingsley, will be released in the UK on 23 July.

The film was made in Pinewood Studios, where Anderson has his own production office.

He said the film's stars and director had been apologetic over the decision not to use him, and that Working Title had offered him money if he publicly supported the film.

'Upset with everything'

"They offered me money to say how nice the picture was," he said. And to impress me, they sent me the pictures of the new 'Rolls Royce'."

One of the film's characters, Lady Penelope, drove a pink Rolls-Royce in the TV series, but the company's current owner, BMW, would not allow them to use the Rolls-Royce trademark for the film.

Lady Penelope's vehicle in the film will instead be a Ford.

The film features live action, not puppets

Anderson said he was sent an image of the car to his computer. "I took one look and thought, if that's the kind of movie they're making, I'm out."

Working Title's president of marketing David Livingstone told the Independent: "The reality with Gerry is that he's upset with everything."

Anderson said he refused to go and see the film, and is instead channelling his energies on a new TV series of Captain Scarlet, which he also created.

"I don't give a damn simply because every minute of the day I'm tunnel-visioned on the new Captain Scarlet. I believe we have a smash hit on our hands," he said.

A Working Title spokesperson told BBC News Online the company had no further comment to make.

Anderson was unavailable for further comment

I hope he would consider doing a remake of UFO--that was one of my favorite shows as a kid!

UFO was a great show, but so few people seem to remember it.  What's up with that?

Old DM has DVD set 1 of UFO.... pacing is a tad slow compared to today's standards-but I still like it.

The new Thunderbirds movie looks very "Spy Kids-ish".
I imagine that is the audience they are gunning for: kids
That's probably why it features 3 kids as the main characters.

Old duffs like us are likely not the target audience.
You gotta remember: guys like myself watched it when we were 3,4, and 5 years old.
It was cool then. But so was saying "Poop" aloud ;)

Another childhood memory destroyed by the hollywood baby boomers.

Thunderbirds:Ruined by turning it into a kiddie movie

McHale's Navy:Don't even wanna talk about how messed up that movie was.

Least they did ok with the two Adams Family movies.

UFO...they'd probably turn that into an all special affects,no plot Movie. Oh wait...that's what most of the movies are now anyway.

Well, my son is excited to see it.

Who drives the kids to the theatre, buys the tickets, gets the popcorn, and applies the simulated-butter-polymer-goo ?

Yup, Old DM

I'll give you guys the "grumpy-old-man-they-don't-make-it-like-they-used-to" review afterwards....

Isn't it directed by Jonathan Frakes...I'll go to see it purely for that reason.

Who cares if it's like the original...I've never saw it.

I saw Lost in Space, and though the movie had it's lulls, when I saw the TV series for the first time...I thought the movie was heads and tails better than the TV portions I saw...

Not that it matters...just my thoughts.  A lot of the shows from that time were extremely corny...

I think the Original Series of  Star Trek was well done...Bonanza was really well done...but most of the shows from that time period...just wouldn't be things I'd be interested in.
