Homeworld Ships
« on: July 14, 2004, 02:11:59 am »
Hey Gang . .

Sometime ago I found 5 ships for the Homeworld Game converted for SFC OP, and I found them again the only reference in the file was Above 8bit, and I am wondering if that was the modeler who converted them?  Anyway what I was wondering is if any one had made break models for those ships . .  cause they are pretty nice, I use them for pirate ships myself.

thx!

lol Above8bit   is a file that all the SFC2 models,  I know who did them. hint-he is a big Borg fan and likes pre-TOS.  Were still missing the other race from Homeworld. I like the other designs even better

Which ships were they? I don't know who made them, I'm just curious. I was also making a little something way back when you might be interested in:

Hey, that's right, now that Relic has been literally ripped off of Sierra's guts by another company, the ones who were griping (and suing) about their ships showing up in other games no longer have control over Homeworld. It can be modded now. Cool.
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Hmm ok never really payed attention to the above8bit part before I went looking for a who did this  :-[, but there was no reference to the modded so picked a place to start . . .  ;D

Anyway the Ships that I found where

listed as

Hgn_battlecruiser
Hgn_carrier
Hgn_destroyer
Hgn_ioncannonfrigate
Hgn_marinefrigate

They are nice looking ships and I was playing around in my additional ship directory looking at stuff and working on redoing my own ship list, since I have been really lazy after I re installed sfc op . . . and not done anything really with it.    :police:

Maybe this time I can get those 2 ship classes I was working on the D-32 and D-35 series hehe, yea I know that stupid episode in TNG where birds of prey are heavy cruisers and not scaled up and attack the 1701 D  . .  but I added them because I found 2 super models that are cruiser sized and really sharp looking!

They are the called the MaQ`MigH and the N'kal in the Unity ships area on this board, if you are curious, I believe I found them ages ago on the old Doom-Song website with the carrier variant of the KCX.

Thanks for the replys, and if someone would be gracious enough to want to add break models to those Homeworld ships I can easily email them to you.

or should I try and upload them here?

Thats a nice looking ship Desty . .  are you gonna finish her?

Yeah, I'm gonna finish it one of these days. I've got other things that require my attention at the moment, but this would be a fun ship to have.

Hmm are they SFC 1 . .  no I dont think so, mostly because they appear to have engine glows, and if IIRC that wasnt possible til SFC EAW, but I might be wrong since I am not able to mod and have only done alittle recolouring of a few ships with paint mostly on a fighter or 2 changing them to fed white from B5 battleship gray . . . yea i know yuck but I cant find the tut on PSP Pro  :(

From those ship names, they sound like they're originally from Homeworld 2, which only came out last September, so they can't be all that old...  ;)

Making the texture maps are easy, but you need max or milkshape to apply them to the model, also not to hard to do. To make the texture map you just need a black background with white areas in the same spots as the areas you want to light up. Applying them is done in milkshape or Max you just add a alpha channel to the texture application area and assign the light map to it.
