I like Kadh's take on this. Makes sense to me.

1) Not a single Klingon loss
2) A major incursion into Fed space that got away scott-free
3) A major base wrecked and it's support fleet ravaged
4) The Feds are left wondering what the Klinks were trying to accomplish,
5) Because they don't know 4), they don't know if the Klinks accomplished anything
6) Because they don't know 4), they don't know what to prepare against for the next time

Yup, exactly. This is just a relatively minor offensive, after all, limited to one sector, not a total war; simply damaging the base and taking out the support fleet serves their purposes just as well if not better than destroying it outright.

As for those who are wondering when I'm actually going to post more... well, my last hard final is about an hour from now, then I'll be spending the rest of the day and most of tomorrow revising my term paper from my German Lit class. After Thursday, though, I'll be in the clear, and my goal is to have something up by the weekend, early next week at the latest. Bear with me a little longer. ;)
