U.S.S. Ark Royal - Work in Progress
« on: July 08, 2004, 12:11:46 am »
I know the stock FCV is a bit ungainly in some aspects but it's still an interesting design, which is why I took a shot at wickedizing it. I did make a few alterations (namely lengthening the pylons and changing the size of the side bays), but for the most part I'm sticking to the original. Some sections on the stock model were represented by textures so I took the liberty of fleshing those parts out in their full 3d form. There's still a lot left to do but the major fabrication is finished, and at current she isn't much to look at without paint:

Ah, she finally gets the treatment she deserves. It's the only Fed ship in SFC2 I haven't replaced.
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Ditto.

Are you not adding the tower or sensor domes?

Please don't let this one fall by the wayside. This and the Ulysses Class are my favorite Interplay/Taldren Feds.

Well done!

For the SFC community historical reference, Atticbat's FCV retexture (late TMP/early TNG):

P. S. I haven't seen Atticbat's retexture of the STOCK FCV in any SFC mods  or on any website lately. While Neither him nor I have the "USS Harry Truman" registries, I thought I'd put what retexture he did back up online. This retexture brought me back into TMP mode.

I do not know why anyone else ever thought about redoing some of the oldies but goodies. Beyond excellent work as usual (was that enough sucking up yet? ;) ) Makes me wish there were seperate models for the BCJ & BCG

Looks like it is going well there WZ. I think I would add a bridge area on the top center of the saucer with a observation area that looks back over the fighter launch bays though.
People always said they wanted the government to listen to them and now the government is listening, taking notes and names...and coming to see you soon!

Remember the axiom of big government bureaucrats: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. When, finally, under the crushing weight of taxes and regulation, it stops moving, subsidize it.
