EAW will not work online
« on: July 07, 2004, 02:37:26 pm »
(I tried to post his message before, but I don't see it. If I have double-posted, sorry about that).

I tried to change my WONserversetup.gf file and I still get the same firewall message.  :'(

Are there any Dynaverse II EAW servers up? I have no idea if my file works???

Can someone please shed some light on the situation...

Thanks!

If you're running XP, make sure your OS's firewall is turned off.

start/control panel/Network and Internet Connections/Network Connections then right-click your internet connection and select Properties (at the bottom of the pop-up window) to bring up the properties window.  Click the Advanced tab.  The top check box is the firewall toggle.  If it's checked no online games will work, so uncheck it and you're golden!

If it's not checked, I don't know what to tell ya... :-\
I was never here, you were never here, this conversation never took place, and you most certainly did not see me.

It works fine. But it appears that the server directory is down at the moment.

No, it's up.  Please make sure your IP is 63.101.60.125 in your c:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\MetaAssets\ServerProfiles\MultiPlayer\WONServerSetup.gf file.

Make sure it is not 63.101.60.125.

Thanks.

There are really no Dynaverse servers for EAW as OP is the game that most are playing on D2.I sorry to tell you this but that is the truth.I would suggest though that you make a posting about servers for EAW players who only have that game. The mods around will not work for D2 eg.OP+3.3 shiplist as well as Pestalence's Enhancement Packs. The scripts have been converted over to Orion Pirates sorry to have to say this.I wish you luck in gathering players for EAW servers. If you don't have it yet I would get the 2036 patch for EAW you can get at www.nightsoftware.com/effhq/ and follow all directions in the boxes.

This means uninstall EAW,delete game folder and reinstall say no to direct x and game spy then patch up.When you have completed these steps you are free to go and play.

I will say this again follow all the direction in the boxes when you click on EAW at the top of the site.I would make yourself familiar with that site as it now the Official support site.

    Good luck and enjoy.

NO, I mean it as I typed it.  Please read the first post in this thread and the last post.

One thing is it refers to Orion Pirates.  Not sure if EAW exists online anymore.

I have been on EAW for the past few days but starting getting the firewall message again today. There have also been times when this site was unavailable.

You might want to post something in the EAW campaign forum. This might bring it to someones attention. There are players like myself that still have EAW although I use mine to tset my modding skills.I would do search for Orion Pirates you might want to check out www.cdaccess.com and do seach for it and of course there is always e-bay and others.

 Good Luck on your Quest.

Hey Guys!
I thought Orion Pirates was the first game, and EAW the second... I had no idea it was newer than EAW. I had just started playing SFC II a few months ago after a friend was telling me about it. I bought it on Ebay of course. I love Star Trek, but had not played many computer games before. EAW was a lot of fun online until now. :(  Is Orion Pirates just like EAW online? Hex map with battles/missions, and gaining presige, etc?

Since people are saying that EAW is available: About my current problem... My Firewall is off and my Router's DMZ is enabled. I can play other games online with no problem. I changed my file to read the following below (and I have tried other things too). Can someone please verify if my file is now correct (and maybe it is the server and not me). Thanks for the responses. -Bisquik

Yes Orion Pirates is a new add on to EAW in fact is called SFC2OP .It is just like Empires at War but better imo. There are missions and a hex map and yes you gain prestige. There some newer ships in the game as well.If you can find it get it so that you can get the Enhancement Pack V2.0 by Pestalence it contains even more campaigns in it.There is a better shiplist in OP+3.3.This the game that everyone is playing in Dynaverse 2.

I can't help you with your connector problems unless there in no Dyna for EAW as it was moved when Taldren shut their California doors. That might not be case though as I am not sure what the problem could be sorry I couldn't help you there.

Your settings look good.

I was able to log right into the D2 and see that there is a server up....Battlezone !!

Nice to see someone supporting EAW players   ;D

Are you using a router?  Are the proper ports for EAW open?

I am using a router, but I have the DMZ setting enabled, which allowed me to play EAW in the past. It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I couldn't play (Taldren situation I guess).

I just tried to logon this morning and I get the same message (firewall). Maybe I will try opening up the ports anyway...

I was able to buy a copy of SFC2-OP online last night. I should get it in a week.
