Topic: I am in need of tos romulans

Anyone have any? I've been to fleetdock. At this point I need basicly every ship class with the possible exception of CL. Anyone have any specific suggestions?

I think the ones I've just finished throwing due to  low res or low poly may have been from there. Kthylas are not likely to end up in circulation any time soon, and the other pack I had all were D5's D4's ect basicly romulanised klingons and the only visable weapon port was the torpedo tube. Need something with a bit  more attention to detail, and some  classes that look more  like the original scout rather than klingon ripoffs. A couple  classes of klingon ripoffs are ok but not the whole romulan fleet.

Now Fleetdock 13 has two sections, the archive of old models from their old site, c. 2000, and the "new" section (that hasn't been updated in over seven months).  The lower poly ships are probably from the old site (white with big long wings?), but amongst the new models is a highly detailed TOS warbird by Anduril.  I think there are also a couple of other hypothetical Romulan designs that fit the old Romulan aesthetic pretty well.

after reviewing the fleetdock again, I can find nothign romulan that is really decent looking except for the traditional romulan scout, and for that I think I like skinmans the best, so  I don't need andurils.

Edit: who has the best D7 out there? Preferably already in romulan colors  and sporting some weapons ports other than bow  torpedo....

well the romulan tos ship are kinda ugly, the klingon are not bad, but the fed are good

I use Atra's D7's, but I don't know if they are available anywhere now.  You can try the model repository at Starfleet Universe.  As I remember, Fleetdock 13 has some D7's.  I can't remember who made them, but they are very, very similar to Atra's, at least in over-all appearance.  There was also a smaller D6 by the same author.  I think there is only a Klingon version, but since the ships are by the same author and share similar designs, they might use the same or similar textures, so it might not be too much work to transfer the Romulan markings from the heavy cruiser to the light cruiser.

it's too bad some of the tmp classes weren't done for tos. Like a Tos winged defender or other V series. Even kthylas romulan dawn ships would look nice if the impulse were made smaller and tos nacelles added. Right now they look too tmp.

The legion class and rfas freighter on the older pages of fleetdock are neat designs, has anyone ever remade them? I've actualy been thinking of useing the prototype ship that looks like  it has a beak head on one of the enwer pages but I dunno if I like the head of the thing yet. Maybe.

Hey Starforce, I'm actually planning too do some Romulans for Fleetdock13 in the future.  Right now, I'm working on the Fed Police Cutter, then the Early Years ships for the Feds.  After that, I'm actually planning too work on the Romulan Early Years ships from SFB (which would be like the TOS era I guess).  But its going too take me awhile, but I've been periodically giving ships too ghost too post whenever I get them done.

If you hadn't notice, I try too design my ships with a TMP flavor to them.  not sure if you like that, but I'm hoping too make a few cool looking Romulan ships.

Hmm,  some of the sfb designs I've seen either look like headless birds or dildo's with nacelles. What I'd  love to see is  like what kthyla has, with his ring drive fighter and the romulan dawn ships, except tos-ify them (they look like tmp refits  with those fancy nacelles). I  also remeber seeing a design somewhere of a warbird that had a d7 rearend,  tube nacelles, and a rounded bird-ish head. That wasn't bad.

This was made by a friend of mine for StressPuppy's Homeworld mod, but we've been talking about getting her into other games as well.  The story behind her is that it was originally built shortly after the Earth/Romulan War as a carrier-type vessel for sublight attack fighters (in Homeworld, you're very limited as what you can do as far as changing the attributes of a ship; the ship we're replacing here was called a "drone frigate," an unarmed ship that launches 24 gun pods) without the Klingon-inspired boom that you see in these shots, which was added in a TOS-era refit.  So, really, what you've got here is two ships in one... 

Anyway, anyone who cares and has the know-how to put this into SFC is welcome to chat me up...

now that is a  decent variant. Sorta looks like it's half finished though. Bird could be brighter and engines  lit. I'm sure you can't use high res stuff  in homewould  like with BC and SFC.

Yeah, you're pretty limited in poly count and texture resolution compared to either SFC or BC.  He's actually talked about putting some higher-res textures on for SFC, if people were interested in having it.

Also, HW handles illumination a little differently.  The format for the meshes includes the illumination data, so the engines do actually appear lit in the game...

the top 2 look ok. the fat one is from the D2 mod and I hate it, it's  ugly. The nacelles are too advanced on them but I suppose i could delete the lit part or make it dimmer, the green one is far too tmp looking. I'll use that eventualy.

This is very cool!  To me this is a sleeker (and sexier) condor

What a coincidence...  that's exactly what it is.    StressPuppy originally had a Condor in there, but it was getting dated (especially since we're using Anduril's Warbird in the mod, making pretty much all the other Romulan ships look bad ) and he wanted to go in a little different direction, so this is what we came up with...

I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, but a few weeks back, Azel designed a highly detailed take on a standard Romulan warbird that was modeled extremely well but I don't know what has happened to her since...

i don't know if you would go for a very post TNG  romulan but i did design one a few days ago you may have seen it if any one is wiling to make one or improve upon i wouldn't mind
