Well, almost finished with the Tholian, and had the modeling bug, so started another one from my list of projects. I know it's not a great representation, but since I mostly do Feds, I'm liking the way it's turning out.

Looks great so far....

I started working on a Vorcha varient the other day too.. so when I post it im not stealing ur ideas.. in fact it doesnt look anything like your model..

But yeah.. looks great so far!!!

I'm starting to get into splines and shapemerge and so on, and this looked like a good model to do....tried the K'Tinga, but can't seem to get it right.

I don't use templates in the viewports, I just eye-ball it, so that's probably the reason, lol.

But, eventually, I want to do a high poly Constitution Enterprise...I'm talking HIGH!!

Definitely not game size....100,00 polies+.

Every detail modelled....Oh the dream!!

Did you get the loftandsplinecage tutorial from http://www.scifi-meshes.com/ ?
It is very good for a start.

OK, did a little more detailing. Thanx go out to WZ for sending me some great ref pics.

Was wondering, should I do the hull paneling all over, or just on the wings and goom? She stands at about 2800 polies right now, and I haven't even done the nacelles yet.

I suggest you do the nacelles and then check again the poly count.

OK, added the nacelles, and, well, I don't this will be game friendly.

11,512 polies, and I'm not done.

Oh well, it's still a fun model to do, and hopefully will look good in renders.

OK, well, now it's over 12,000 polies, but looks really good!

Now, I need to do one that will be more game friendly. I'll do one without the armor plating on the wings detailed, just do it with textures...this 1st one was a test, a good looking test, but still a test.

Well, like I said, it was a test...a test of Splines and Shapemerge. I can get it down around 7,500-8,000 by Optimizing the mesh, but there are a few errors that can't easily be removed.

All that mesh detailing eats up polies...that's why most of use textures to simulate the details.

OK, made another mesh, this time without all the details. This mesh is only 1,799 polies...pretty good.

I'm going to start texturing as soon as I get done here...have a new Klingon Base texture I want to try...made it myself even, lol.

Those ref.'s helped alot...the ones I had found didn't show the bottom.

I still have a lot of detailing to do on the high poly mesh...probably going to go over 20,000 polies by the time I'm done.

This (textured) version was a lot easier to make after doing the high poly one...might have to do that more often, lol.

How's the base texture look? Is it the right shade of grey/green?

The textures look good so far, I think the only thing they really need is a bit more blue/green in the base color. Also, there are two versions of the Vorcha, one for TNG and one for DS9. The only major difference is the DS9 version has red paneling and a slightly darker hull.

I'm back at work, after being out for a couple of weeks due toa back injury, and we just started a very big sales event, so haven't really had the time or inclination after work to do any more, but, I will probably get a chance to do a little tomorrow after work.

Well she is nice but you should make her disruptor guns and torpedo launchers and deflector (forward). The second thing is that I haven't seen her aft... What about her aft. She should have small aft disruptor turrets like the K'Tinga has (at least some balls there aft headed) and a Torpedo Launcher... Do you wan't some data on the Vor'cha weapons?? I can get you such quick. Just let me know know. She is a very nice ships you have made but she need such small adjustments to be even grater of gratest Vor'chas made here

Uhh, the schematics I have don't show torp tubes or more disruptors (they're Jackills schematics BTW), or any of the screenshots/model pics (thanx again WZ for the pics). If you're going by the stuff at DITL, there is some discrepencies in what they report and what is actually known about the ships. I'm getting ready to release her as is, but if you send me the stuff and enough people agree, I'll do a version 2.
