As for me, my traditional 4th of July celebration is sitting with my family on the bank of Lake Wylie ( a lake just south of Charlotte); sitting back, drinking a brew, and doing my best 'Oooh' and 'aaaahh' at the fireworks.
The visual: nice dark night, about a thousand boats will all their running lights turned on anchored all across the lake looking like a rainbow reflection of the stars; BIG fireworks display sponsored by individuals of that community; launching site is a small peninsula that is easily viewed from most parts of the lake; this peninsula is near to the main bridge over the lake, traffics stops, people are gathered along the side of bridge as well; ONE HUGE PARTY; smaller fireworks being launched by individuals from the shore and the boats the whole time.
Nice addition this year: the guy by us had a radio tuned into a radio staion playing all American celebration songs, excellent finishing touch.
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!
