Just saw Spiderman! And walked away a bit disappointed...
« on: July 02, 2004, 01:54:09 am »
Cuz I realized I'm just a regular guy and really want to be Spidey. :(

Otherwise, movie was very good. Real acting this time from the cast. I couldn't tell if the acting was over the top or the special effects... Very cool...

Has anyone thought of doing a D2 Spidey mod? Oops, wait, the Tholian web doesnt work yet... So scratch that... Or does it. ;)

Personally, I thought the best part of the movie was Kirsten Dunst's brave choice to forgoe a mammary structural integrity field for 99% of the movie.

Looked chilly.

I think I can Agree with Dizzy on this one. I read the Book about a week ago, and thought to Myself, This Sucks.

The Only Good thing , Is That It leads to Three Villians in the Next movie hopefully.

It was just the Characters. The only one who seemed Believable was Aunt May. and I gues J. Jonah. Jameson.

***SPOILER! DONT READ THIS POST IF YOU HAVEN"T SEEN THE MOVIE!***

Stephen, yeah, Auntie May was convincing in every respect... but I wonder if there will be a deleted scenes DVD that has Auntie May asking why Peter ran off in the bank like a coward leaving her alone with Doc Ock when he busted down the vault door. They never touch that one... A few others too.

Oh, and why didn't he get road rash from sliding across the road like he did, wasnt that right b4 the train sequence? Obviously, Raimi has never ridden a motorcycle. ;)

Also, what's the deal with the lycra suit always looking so good? You see him wash it in the laundromat, but is he a seemstress as well? I want to see him with needle and thread! Or epoxy and glue, or something!

Another picky thing is what does he do with his plain clothes when he dons his spidey suit? I saw only ONCE where he throws his clothes down on a rooftop, I guess he goes back and gets them? There's plenty of opportunity for humor there, hehe. I liked the part where he was in costume in the elevator.

I think the thing that gor me the Most, was the COmplete Lack of Understanding in why He lost his Powers. It appears to Be psychological, But He never had that Problem In the Comic. Instead that story arc followed a Further Mutation as the Spider and his Human DNA Collided. But oh well. I just wished Sam Liked Venom. He would be an Excellent Villion for the Future.

BTW, did You catch Bruce Cambell and Stan Lee's Cameo's? Bruce as a Doorman, and Lee Grabbing that lady out of the way of Debris was Classic. Of course Knowing the way things are going, They'll Prob. turn his next door nieghbor (the Ugly Chick ) Into Felicia aka Black Cat.

Im not familiar with the black cat... but I sure did wonder why she had so much screen time... Was there a point to that?

What are the 3x main villians we are introduced to for SM3 during thw 1st 2x movies? Doc Ock kinda came outta no where, even after raimi said he wasnt gonna be in it.. So who knows really? Harry, of course, had a huge revelation in the last scene... So he figures in heavily.

Hey, in the comic books, what happens to Mary Jane?

Oh, ok did some investigating. Looks like MJ's Ex-Fiance has a bit more to him than meets the eye... You'd never tell from the movie tho. It least I didnt see anything...

And in the 1st movie, the scene where the Green Goblin drops the skycar and Gwen, not MJ off the bridge was taken from the comic books, but Gwen dies. 1st time a major secondary hero character died. It was unheard of, hehe.

Who the hell is the 3rd villian? I cant figure it out...

Well, someone who was introduced in this one as a support character is Professor Connors: the U teacher with the missing right arm. He uses reptilian DNA research to try and regrow his arm back, but becomes instead

I've always been a casual Spidey fan from the Saturday Morning Cartoons as a kid (remember the one with the Ice Dude and and the Flaming Chick?)

Never read a comic though...(does Heavy Metal count? :P)

I thought this movie was more mature than the first one.  More depth to the characters.  I always thought the scene from #1 where the New Yorkers come to SPidey's aid on the bridge came across as a little corny - but in this one, on the train....it was better.

That and Aunt May's monologue about hero's got me a little misty-eyed.

Yep sorry, just saw this one.

Doc Conners ---- The Lizard.
John Jameson--- Some Were-Creature, can't recall the name.
And Of Course Harry Osborn as Hob Goblin, or Green Goblin. Depends on what story Line It follows.

Black Cat was the Only other Person to Have the Super Serum used on Besides Capt. America. It involves a Convoluted Plot between her Father and the KingPin.

The third movie is suppose to be w/ the Hobgoblin (or so I've been told).

That wouldn't surprise me at all Green. And I'd Prefere It to be the Hobgoblin actually. they Could Do the Whole Harry Get's Amnezia story, and Maybe , Just Maybe Kill Gwen Stacy.

Well, I am hoping that they will do something with Dr. Connors as the Lizard in the upcoming movie.  The Lizard villian was allways one of my favorites. This movie was entertaining but had it's small flaws as most movies of this type do.   I loved the casting they did for Dr. Oc, perfect choice for him in my opinion.   I'll never forget what I heard some guy saying as well all exited the movie theatre.  He exact words were, "Damn, I didn't know they were gonna turn it into a chick flick"  Guess he's not a big Kirsten Dunst fan.   Hell, where she is concerned, the more the better.   Yummy.

As for other future villians, I don't remember John Jameson becoming a villian.   Can anyone elaborate on that one?

But, when you get into the best comic characters, I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE FANTASTIC FOUR to come out as a movie.   I've read that it is in the works.   Awesome.

Well as I understand it they want to bring Venom in (eventually). Since they really don't have time to set up the whole "Secret Wars II" thing I think they're going to bring him in by having astronaut guy bring the symbiote back from space. (I don't remember this happening in the comic but my friend assures me it took place sometime). ~ As they don't have Eddie Brock (yet anyway) I'd kinda assume astronaut guy becomes Venom. (or maybe not..)
Harry should be Green Goblin II, but they also don't have Ned Leeds (sp?) for Hobgoblin so this could be open as well. Obviously Doc Connor should be the lizard (although was he a physics Prof in the comics?- and is he missing an arm in the Movie-I don't remember) and the klutz girl *might* turn out to be Black Cat. ( Who IIRC was a klutz in real life, but had good/bad luck as her Alter ego)

Of course I haven't read the books in about 10 years  (or more) so I could be a littel off in my recollection.

Also wouldn't Bruce Campbell be an awesome Mysterio??

See, I had heard Sam Ramie hated the Venom Plot. I'd be all for It myself. Also The last scene with Doc Conners showed him having Only one arm, so we can only Hope.

That would Be awesome I think. Heck If nothing else, They could do the whole Insidous Six, or the Sinistar Six. That would be a movie.
