Funny... I didn't think the cats knew how to read....

Thought they could only press the buttons that are marked 'drone' and 'ESG'.  ;D

From a limited tour in Kzinti starcruisers, I never, I mean never saw a "launch drone" button.

Their weapons console took some deciphering, but I found only 3 labels.

Spray
Spay
Squirt

From a nice long mental (telepathic) conversation (comeon, I wasn't really probing an active duty KATs mind, it was a one-sided conversation...) with their weapon officer, this is what I got:

"The Spray buttons launch our territorial marking warheads.  The Spay buttons fire a focused beam of energy.  The smaller ones are good for spaying enemy marking warheads, the larger ones are good for spaying ships.  The Squirt button fires our heavier deterrent at enemy ships.  Very effective at scolding wayward KATs..."

So, from what I saw, they don't even have cheesy "fire drone" buttons on their ships... :D

(and don't ask me what the neuter button does on a Kzinti starcruiser.  Once they found out I knew, I was lucky to get out of there alive...)

tsk tsk

You have never had a cat before obviously Julian.  If you did you would never presume to try and understand them.  It is as if the race had all the Romulan skills of denial built into a simple shrug.  If you deemed to use telepathy the only message you would recieve would be "wasn't me blame the dog".

I've had a cat before, actually, a pair.  Unforunately they came from an abusive household.  My wife's cat (if you could call him hers) was the dominant kitty of the pair, while my cat had probably suffered from an injured back / broken tail, and was submissive.  After a short time, he was my friend (would only come out of  hiding if I was around), and the dominant cat soon knew not to antagonize my kitty when I was around.

After a couple of years my kitty eventually became an outside cat, and I like to think he lived a productive life outside.  I also believe he did stop by to visit once or twice over the years to let me know he was OK...

Therefore, I have a certain empathy with Kitties... (remember, I bossed the dominant kitty around, he definitely did not fit the mold of "I am the human's master")  And as a (RP) Veltrassi Telepath, while it is hard to break through the denial etc. it is possible for a properly trained telepath to get a little more out of a kitty than "it's the dog's fault", especially since there are no dogs in the entire Kzinti Hegemony... :D
