Convoy missions

Does anyone have a copy of the old post at Taldren discussing these?

If not, I'll just start the thread again. Currently, as I recall, we decided upon 2 teams per side, plus a freighter team, plus a Q-ship team. If PvP, then no AI (other than freighters).

Um, all that I know about convoy missions is this;

Now that I have joined up with the Bruce Armada for LB5, I am being relegated to convoy duty to guard entire convoys composed of NOTHING but a product known as "Chocodiles"

I have asked and been shown actual digitized images of a chocodile and completely understand the importance to the GDA Armada that these treats be kept safe.

The only critical part I recalled Tracey was the mission only allowed 1 human defender and 2 human attackers.

The hope was to allow 2 human defenders and 2 human attackers.

Can't say I remember the specifics on the AI.  Too bad, it was a good thread, believe it even came close to (if not settled) a solution.

  There are no threads from Taldren DB that was transfered via DL or up loaded to this site from 2004 to present.I looked around and I couldn't find any.I was hoping The Star That End Bars of SFC Admins would be in here but there aren't any.There is only 2003 and prior.You will have to start a new one that one had a lot garbage in it anyway.I hope this helps you out Tracey.

Was rapping with Doggy a few days back and this thought hit me, another thing I'd like to see is the inclusion of "Merchant men" type freighters for all races. As it is now only the Federation convoys have these special freighters included. They typically are more likely to Wild Weasel, have better weapons in general and tend to be a bit faster than some other freighters.

Perhaps equipping some freighters with some minor low level fighters for drone defense, might also be an option to prevent a drone ship from flying by at speed 31 and destroying a convoy too easily then running off the map. Some fighter having the ability to go a bit faster might not be so bad either, say speed 15 - 18?


Another possibility might be to require that the freighters be scanned before destruction, and if the wrong ones were destroyed you take a pp hit for killing "War Orphans" etc. Not all convoys need be military, could be some humanitarian ones as well. Could even do a bit of roleplay if a way was found to track how many humanitarian ships a player had destroyed, and upon reaching a certain level they got a demotion and a prestige hit of a major scale, perhaps even having their ship downgraded..... 

Maybe a convoy could occasionally be attacked by ai monsters instead of ships? Perhaps even a monster that gave off radiation like a sun (doing damage of course) so that you had to fend it off before it got near a humanitarian convoy containing refugees from a planet it had laid to waste. Do you dare to risk getting close to the creature to fight, or do you try to tractor freighters to saftey? Perhaps some refugees could be beamed off the freighters onto your ship as well before the monster overtook their poor freighter.

Additionally we should try to figure out why fighters and pfs will go after freighters despite orders if you are raiding a convoy, this can be irritating.

  I didn't mean the GAW thread just the convoy missions thread that you started it kinda got a little off topic.There just a lot debates that wasn't helping you out and I have good memory about it.
