Here's Azels Intrepid...nice design concept ;). He asked me to do some renders, so here they are, plus a link to d/l, since he said I could host it too. ;D

Eye pleasing if a little strange in design. Textures definately suit the model, and look clean (maybe a little two clean, but thats just me).

Pretty nifty, if you ask me. She's got the Vulcan warp engine design influence combined with early 23rd century Starfleet aesthetics. What a neat idea.

THANKS SANDMAN!!!

Aye Thanks mate!!!
The original TOS Intrepid was a connie that was manned by an All non-starfleet Vulcan Crew IIRC...the Ship was supposed to be a sistership to the Connie...but I figured it would be a Connie variant at most (if the crew was all Vulcan and non-starfleet officers as opposed to the all Vulcan crew to that Nebula class in DS9 that were all Starfleet)...Also the TOS designation for the Enterprise was a "Starship" not Constitution(but thats a whole other bag of problems...lol), so I said lets try a variant with a annular warp configuration similar to the ones on the Vulcan ships...That way we could postulate that, the Intrepid was a connie hull (possibly an incomplete one) that the Vulcans modified to better suite thier needs...thus creating a sub-class...possible an Intrepid-sub-class(similar to the Endeavor-sub-class Connie)

aye thanks...the reason she is so "clean" looking is because I cannot texture (as in suck)

Thanks alot mate...The way I did the textures is kind of a trade off...it allows me to make a circular Aztec for the most part well...But it causes me a huge problem in making registries, and phasers and stuff(stretches very very badly)...so the ship will have no windows and such...as the texture is Square rather than circular....without PSP or PS I cannot figure out a way to surmount this dillema
But at least she looks decent enough to me to give her to you guys...which reminds me...I have a TOS Excelsior and Ingram that needs lightmaps so they can be released... lol

Fear not, I have the solution. (Sorry I am a bit melodramatic at times) snicker -  Detach the saucer from the rest of the ship so its seperate.  Take a render from above like you did for the entire ship, only with just the saucer. Do a printscreen of said render. Cut out just around the saucer and paste this saucer into a 512 by 512 bitmap so the saucer just fits into it.  Then sharpen the pic to regain some of the quality you lose from copy, paste and resizing the saucer image. Its a slight drop in quality, not too bad. You will more then make up for it in windows and registy.

Step2- Remap your saucer top to this bitmap.  You may need to regoup the saucer into top and bottom if not done already.  You can now add in windows to this map, also registry and it will not be stretched at all.

If you dont have PSP. Resizing, cut, paste, sharping can all be done with Irfanview. A free utility- try a search on the web. I hope its still available somewheres.

This technique I came up with though its probably not unique or anything. Patent pending   j/k

Anyways sharpening would help the saucer, its just a tad blurry unless thats from the photo getting resized.

Hmmmm, this design gives me an idea for a colonisation ship (seeing as I already posted a request for one).

Sandman/Azel. Would you both mind if I adapt something from this design to my needs (I've got to bring the design up to late TMP to late TNG).

Exelent ship, indeed. I have read about the Interpid and really like this theory on her design.

You think that you can try your hand at one of the Vulcan science cruisers that have only been done in low poly models so far next? Would be interesting to see them done by such a talented hand.

Except for the Nacelle orientation and hull astetics

BTW: STeelViper, you can Actually just DL the model to tweak the Saucer/hull textures for windows and signage
