« on: June 30, 2004, 09:10:27 am »
It's GREAT site for Homeworld players who have a hankerin' to fly Star Trek ships and a wonderful resource of new ships fo SFC players as well!

Does anyone know if there are plans to convert Homeworld/Homeworld 2 vessels to SFC?

G'Kar: Curious. Until now, I hadn't known it was a crime.

Actually most of them are converted already courtesy of DarkDrone, hes only got a few more to go. We're thinking of releasing a couple a week until the entire inventory is out. Note that right now, we're still developing and making more models so the inventory is practically endless.

Are you talking about the original HW/HW2 ships?  Biggest problem I see with those would be the fact that many of them mount their primary weaponry in turrets.  Don't know how well that would translate to SFC...

Suspense is killing me, man.  In terms of numbers, are we talking the same amount of ships that we got with the first release, or more or less?

Yup, those ships. Even if they don't "translate" well in terms of weapons placements/hardpoints for SFC, they are stillsome nifty designs, IMHO of course. If you haven't seen them, they are very detailed and many of them look sort of like a cross between modern naval vessels and ships from the "Alien" movies to me. Asymmetrical shapes, lots of antennas and other protrusions, crevasses and the like.

One that really stands out for me is a large vaguely crescent shaped vessel that I think would make a great addition to the game.

Crescent shaped, eh?  You mean this one?  http://www.well-of-souls.com/homeworld/hws/kushan/cloak_generator1  Hate to break it to ya, but it's unarmed...  ;)  Although it does cloak...  :D

Seriously, if anybody wants to take a look at what HW has to offer, this is a good site: http://www.well-of-souls.com/homeworld/hws/index.html  I've got all the HW and Cataclysm ships extracted from the game archive, and converting them over to .obj or another modelling format isn't terribly difficult, so if anybody wanted to see some of these in SFC, and knew how to get them in, it's not beyond the realm of possiblity...  :)

Good guess, but nope, that's not the ship I was thinking of. Rather, it's this one here: http://www.well-of-souls.com/homeworld/hws/hw2/images/display.htm?hw2_03070204.jpg

I just now found out she's a Hiigaran Mothership.

And thanks for this great link, Captain Pierce! This helps me out so much now as I can put a name to the ships.

Yes, thanx for that link!! :) Now, I wonder if we're allowed to make higher poly versions for SFC?

Ah, it was the "crescent" thing that threw me--over in the HW community, we usually compare the Motherships to a banana...  :D
