well.. WZ, if and when you ever get time - could you do a promethus class ship. i am really discouraged by what is out there and would love to see you do one.

and for those who missed it, he did a smooooth rendition of the lakota.

When? I never miss a release from WZ (seeing as he's the source for parts for all my Fed kitbashes) He did do a TNG Excelsior but it wasn't the Ent-B variant, only based on it.

I don't want to disillusion anyone, but I consider the Prometheus (and the Intrepid it's derived from) a very unattractive design. Not so say I won't ever make one, but it isn't exactly at the top of my list. I tend to lean towards non canon or semi-canon ships as I get too caught up in making the canon versions accurate and nitpicking the most insignificant detail until I lose interest.

The Relentless is a variant on the Lakota type, and is the only Excelsior I've done recently. The Lakota has bigger impulse housings, different hull and engines, and no phaser strips. It's basically the Enterprise B with a new registry and red/orange impulse domes.

i understand completely where you are coming from WZ. I saw even p81 get hammered with "cannon picklers." I simply do not like any of the promethus models out there.

and yes, i agree with you, i think as far as a ship design, it is unattractive. i love the excelsior/sov/connie TMP designs by far.

lol...  here's one for the books folks ..  Nanner and I actually agree.  I know from a technology stand point the Promethous is supposed to be cutting edge....  but IMHO the hull is a LOT to be desired.

You wanna know the sad thing about the Prometheus? It's actually a much nicer ship than the episode suggests (and even shows) Rick's final drawings were actually of the same detail and design quality of the Intrepid, and he spent a lot of time and effort to get things right. But, guess who butchered the design just before the episode? Eden FX.

Just take a look at these, they are the original drawings from Rick Sternbach, from an article he did for ST: Mag.







Wicked, what do you think of these? IMO it's almost a new ship, especially the secondary hull. There's a lot of things Eden screwed up on the final model, and I think it's worth your time to "repair." I've got the actuall article and magazine if you want the whole thing.

Yeah, I've got those pics. I have more reference images than most people realize. The details may be different, but it's still the same basic design. Flying paddles and irons aren't exactly my vein of interest.
