ON Clip-shows, Ellison, and Other Things...
« on: June 28, 2004, 03:44:53 pm »
I recently just watched a Two Part Episode of Outerlimits Called the Appeal. It centered around a Women from the Future making an Appeal for her actions of the past, a Very Good Series of Episodes, and Left over from Plummers First appearance in a Stitch in Time.

I don't normally like Clip-Shows, But this one Kept me Fascinated for two hours, and Looking at Previous episodes on the Internet. (synopsis of course)...

I wanted to ask, What is your Opinions of Clip Shows, And what one's do you enjoy?

On Ellison; There Are rumors out there That Harlen's Vision of Demon with a Glass Hand might be a Major Motion Picture soon, Picked up By Dreamworks Films. To My knowledge, this will be his first Motion Picture since 1966.

Ellison is one Of the Best Writers that I like. So I hope this comes to bear.

Other Things; I had a Pc Crash the other day, and was Barely able to Stay online. This seemed to happen after two things. I Had installed a Third Party Browser the day before, and Then A Game called PainKiller also. This actually worked to my advantage, as I was able to kinda Relax, and Get my Mind in order, after a Brief Spout of Being an Ass, and Feeling sorry for myself.

But I'm back, Better then ever, and Hoping to Help anyone who needs It.

A clip show is an episode in a series that shows clips of past episodes throughout. The clips normally take up about 50% of the new show.
Only in America .....do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

While normally I am not in favor of them, clip shows can be OK.  Like anything it depends on how they are done.

I've not read much of Elison, what is the story about?

Here's a Link http://www.starseeker.com/films/demonwit.htm

This film is based on a Hugo award-winning, 1964 episode of The Outer Limits by the same title, penned by noted sci-fi writer Harlan Ellison, which in turn was inspired by the Babylonian myth of Gilgamesh. Ellison, whose last feature film writing credit was 1966's The Oscar, has penned dozens of novels, short stories, and TV episodes. In the Outer Limits episode, which takes place entirely within a single, abandoned building, an amnesiac man from the future named Trent (compellingly portrayed by Robert Culp) is transported back to our time, but finds he is being chased by bloodthirsty aliens called the Kyban. One of his hands (sans three fingers) is made of glass and speaks to him, hence the title. Trent teams up with poor clothesmaker Consuela Byros (Arline Martel) to find the missing fingers and to learn why he is being pursued. While critics are frequently amused by the low-budget alien make-up, overall this episode is considered one of the finest ever made. This story is just one of several that Harlan Ellison wrote about the Kyban alien race and has been credited for inspiring the 1984 film, The Terminator. Indeed, Ellison has sued filmmakers over the years for using his ideas. While there have been rumors of tentative start dates, there is currently no official production start date for this picture.

I don't mind clip-shows, and like Ravok, I didn't know what the hell it was either!

Ellison went from "angry young man of sci-fi" to cranky old crank. :)
