Hardpoints
« on: June 28, 2004, 08:17:36 pm »
Hey guys,

I'm sure I can get an answer to this one. I've got the Nemesis Sovreign that was released ages ago back when SFC3 was still in digital diapers, and there's something that's always bothered me. Hardpoint 18, which is supposed to be the second quantum tube in the torpedo turret beneath the saucer, fires from just below the shuttlebay. While unnoticable in head-on shots, it is quite obvious at other angles. Is there any way that I can have hardpoint 18 and hardpoint 15, the first turret launcher, to fire from the same point without editing the model itself? I've tried editing the .gf file to no avail (and thank God I backed it up. All those numbers...)

I've heard of a hardpoint editor. Will that work and is there somplace I can locate it?
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

I use CV to redo HP's. I'm not sure where you can get it now. After I save a model with it though some of the polys are transparent. I use the M1 model editor to fix that. It's not 3DMax, but it works.
If Romulans aren't cowards, then why do they taste like chicken?

If you have 3ds max go to the select be name list, select dummy object number 18, move it to where you want it, export the model, use the smae file name to overwrite it, and that will work... The hardpoint editor has nothing to do with where the weapons fire from these are dummy objects in 3ds max!!! ;D

Hope this helps!!!

Yah, don't have 3d studio. I'd rather be able to pay my car payments, rent, health insurance, grocery bill, utilities, and taxes without having to resort to theivery. I've played for two years with it this way and it wasn't a terribly urgent thing.

Still, if I ever manage to afford 3d studio. I know how to do it. Thanks.

I told you to download this ZIP file. This is the model editor which you are looking for

It's a pretty neat little viewer, but the manual doesn't say how to edit hardpoints.

Thanks for the link though. I dunno how I ever lived without this and the HP editor. Before it was just hit and miss.

EDIT:

Once I figured it out, it was actually pretty cool. Thanks bigtime. Not that quantum launcher doesn't bother me anymore.

With the keys "+" and "-" you switch the points by holding "ctrl" you can move those points faster. You can move points by using keys: "s" - up "x" - down "a" - forward "z" - aft "d" - right "c" - left. If I made any mistakes with controls you'll have my appologies :)

Enjoy :)

Cheapest route is yo use milkshape to move the point, it only costs about 25 bucks.
