« on: June 28, 2004, 03:26:04 pm »
It's been a long time coming, but hey, its here!

STGD in conjunction with Matrix Game Host and Devil-Jones is proud to announce the opening of 7 pure gaming servers...

1 for Elite Force, which is running now

1 for Elite Force 2, which is opening tomorrow

1 for Bridge Commander, which will be available later on this week.

...and...

A staggering FOUR pure servers for Starfleet Command Dynaverse 3. 1 will be dedicated for UNITY, 1 will be dedicated for Near Distant Future, 1 will be deciated for Near Disant Future and 1 will be dedicated to Pelican's Dominion Wars. The fourth server will be available for any mod in the SFC community who wishes to use it for there campaign and will be rotated.

www.matrixgamehost.com, Devil-Jones and the STGD have joined forces to bring the community a set of fast and up to date servers for the entire Bridge Commander, EF series and SFC gamers. There will be more services being announced soon, TS Community server along with IRC Chat servers!

XC,SCF2.net both already have TS servers up and going.
XC Also has a irc server running for the use of anyone.

Victor a question, why waste a server for each game,If the server and it's connection are up to it you could run several games on each one.

Seems a bit wasteful to me.

For those wanting to get the games who may not have them (BC or Elite Force), go to the International Online Gamers Club  http://www.iogc.net

Nick and his staff will find you a copy at IOGC.

EAW/OP are also there or can be ordered.

IOGC is co-sponsoring this effort.

IOGC is opening a Webservice next month -- a games locator. Meantime, there is a forum at IOGC.net where they will get the game for you.

The STGD/MGH IRC server will be linked to a IPX server allowing older games like BOTF and SFA to once more have a home.

As for why each game has it's own game is due to the fact our SFC3 server will not need constant restarting and will be able to hold up to 150 players on each SFC3 server at any one time with no lag.

and for the record the server specs are as follows.
Duel AMD 64 3600, 3 gig of DDR 500mhz, duel 200 gig hard drives and each machine will be on a 100mbit conection.

These servers are top of the line,  we are only putting 1 game per machine to demonstrate STGD and MGH's commitment to this project and to the ST gaming communitty as a whole.

Victor -

That BC server - will it be stock 1.1, or can we discuss putting a mod in there - as in a system map mod.

They sound great.  What do you mean by "each machine will be on a 100mbit connection" ?  Wlll they each be connected to their own OC3?

I look forward to trying a 150 player SFC3 server.

The computer sounds a lot like my homemade workstation.  What kind of mobo do you have in them?

Won't happen on SFC3. For BC and EF, but as ThePelican will tell you, SFC3 won't go past 60'ish with the current server kit. The old Activision A/B severs held masses cuz'the settings were default -- like 12 second movement hex to hex and almost no AI.

SFC3 servers just won't hold 150, not with flat file and certainly not with MYSQL.

Well, maybe you should have a chat with your friend, he seems to think differently.

Well the SFC3 server kit does have limitations; still you get the best computer you can on a good network connection and you just do your best.

what mods are hosted is up to STGD, MGH is providing the servers and the server admins, but as for content STGD has total control over it.

I cant wait to have more than 50 playing NDF, We had 47 on the map Friday and Saturday. No crashes so far. With the new machines we will surely have an awesome time.

BIG thanks to Vic, STGD, and Matrix Game Host!

So Wildcard, you are saying each computer has it's own separate OC3, dedicated for itself.

I am impressed!

Is this the site you are using?

Yup, its Matrix Game Hosts that are supplying the servers (we will also have 1 server set aside for TS and IRC)
