And the SOS gains ground!

Yes folks, you heard it here first. The SOS gains ground on the GDA!

Tonite, much to my delight, I managed to uphold the honor of SOS, not once, but twice!

First comes Iaidoka, trundling about in his enormous, hideous PF toting freighter, looking to take a bite out of poor little Elphinstone's butt. But low and behold! Elphinstone too carries the mighty hammer of PFdom.

After a couple nasty exchanges of fire, each is left with but one PF, and a bit o damage to boot. The wily Gorn sends out his last bit of strength in a bid to kill the mighty Elph's carrier. Elph sends his PF to tilt with the onrushing bug of death (btw, tilting is jousting), and mutually assured destruction ensues as the PF's collide head on.

His only offensive weapons reduced to free-floating plasma, Iaidoka beats a retreat before the mighty Elph and his carrier perform the Righteous Dance of Green Blooded Victory upon his scaly ashes!

Oh, can someone tell me what 'controlling your PF' means? I issued the orders in that shuttle screen, but I think Iaidoka meant something else.

GG Iaidoka!

Then, in a bid to erase the blot on the GDA's honor, Kroma Sabl (sp.? sorry Kroma, its a hard name to spell heh) proceeds to challenge our mighty hero to a duel!

After allowing me to dispatch his tag along AI friend, the fight is on. Kroma's heavy cruiser closes with the carrier, firing off fakie plasma, then must wheel away as the PF's streak in to deliver flaming green balls of nasty death! Such a fitting color....

One PF, foolishly sent ahead, gets captured and reduced to dust as the others fire for effect from so far out that the plasma has NO chance of even warming Kroma's lizardly hide.

The chase ensues anew. Finally, the PF's catch up to the great flying brick Kroma drives. He once again proceeds to capture one of them, only to realize too late that it has not yet fired! Plasma streaks in from close range, battering his poor ugly hull. The other PF's close and fire, with the mighty Elph close on their heals. Flaming balls fly to and fro, with both Kroma and our hero recieving damage, but Kroma has had the worst of it. Elph moves off to lick his wounds and recover the precious PF's, and the Long Chase begins, as Kroma attempts to repair his leaky tub.

Finally, as the Chase reaches its grisly conclusion, Kroma, cornered at last, turns at bay to deal death. However, the swarming horde of PF's is waiting! Again, the plasma flys, and Kroma's painstakiingly repaired hull again sprouts numerous leaks. Closing, the mighty Elph dispatches his own firey kiss towards the wreck of Kroma's ship.

By the Luck of the Reptilian (or perhaps by design), Kroma is near the border. Out of time and out of duct tape, Kroma deigns that discresion is the better part of valor and beats a hasty retreat before the coup de grace can be administered.

GG Kroma!

Thanks to both GDA guys for great, honorable games!

And hey, we all gotta get chased off sometime!

Sincerely, the mighty Elph!

You can actually fly a PF like a ship in your fleet...the way to do this is to (I think ) is to target it and push shift, but i may be wrong...klinks don't use PF's so a rommie or a gorn can jump in here and correct me.
You won't find a better bunch of opponents than the GDA.
Q'uapla!

Target the PF you want to fly and hit backspace.
While in command of the PF, you can control it just like any other ship; ECM, cloak, pseudo's...
Few things are quite as dangerous as a fully loaded Centurian under human control.

Right J'inn?

Congratulations on that Elph!  Most impressive and unfortunate for you, in  that you too have failed to keep your head down!  I will now add you to the list with the likes of those others that are Short On Sensibilities(SOS Skorzeny).
Seriously tho ...well done...and don't forget to keep an eye on the Mother ship when you jump into the PF....the AI is mighty dumb sometimes.
See you out there!

the only time I've ever jumped into a PF is when my freighter tender was down to 4 engine power and I was in the Epicenter mission.  No chance to resupply, what else could I do?

So how is this GDA-SOS War coming along? Seems to have been quiet about it recently.

...at a time

I either see one or two GDA  *or*  one or two SOS on, never at the same time, and never more than that

I'm thinking the GDA is the "Michael" side of that equation.

You do on 7.35 or any server that has the PF UI working in the shiplist.

Here's my weekend update...

GDA-Kel  2   SOS-Nero  0

To be fair, Nero had inferior ships in both engagements.  We fought in CL's to better prepare for DoE.  I was in a CDD (arguably one of the top two or three ships in the entire Gorn fleet).  In our first fight, I posessed more firepower (both phaser and plasma) and a much better power curve.  He did score some internals before he had to leave the map or be destroyed.  He upgraded his ship for our second fight.  Weaponry was about the same, but his ship lacked adequate rear firing arcs for any weapon.  As a result, I was able to chase at high speed once his torps had fired.  He did briefly cause me to break off with a few well-timed SS and one deadly nuc space mine. At that point, my max speed was only 23, due to damage.   Once I repaired and took up the chase, though, he couldn't keep me at bay.  He was unable to run at speed and charge weapons.  Eventually I scored multiple internals and he was forced to break off.

GDA-Kel   0  SOS-Cleopatra 1

I was in an MCC (CL class hull around 160 bpv) and Cleo was in a CA class hull.  Weaponry was about the same (2F, 2S each, plus around 7-8 ph1).  I stood by as Cleo dispatched my AI pft help.  Once that was out of the way, we began 'the dance.'  We both ran at speed, each looking for a good firing angle.  I again chased, once I was sure her S torps had fired.  My plan was to keep up the pressure and stay close until she made a mistake.  Whereas Nero had no options, Cleo's ship had very good rear firing ordnance.  She repeatedly used phasers and an occasional F torp to deal damage and force me to break off.  Throughout the 40 plus minute engagement, she dealt much more damage than I did.  My best chance came when I was on her tail after she had fired both S torps (to no avail - I outran them both).  I had a level 2 tractor primed and had her boxed into a corner of the map.  All weapons chaged and ready.  A phaser volley, 1 F torp, and 2 or 3 well-placed t-bombs forced me to turn away with internals at less than range 3.  Shortly thereafter, I was forced to leave the map at best speed (14).

Very good games, SOS.
