Azel's romulan design, WIP continued
« on: June 26, 2004, 07:20:39 pm »
hey, I was working on Azel's rom bird on taldren forums and it was a while before I realised they were relocated here, so I'll just post the link the the images.

I am completed on the mesh I think, maybe some more detail on the lower wing, it's around 8500 polies. I have a very good pic of the valdore to work the texture of.

If you can make textures as good as you can model..... then that is going to be one fine ship!!!

I have recently learnt how to convert ships ready for sfcIII usage and I dont mind helping you..

Come over to the STGD forums and PM me with your email address. I will send you all the stuff I have, (manuals and things)

The modeling manual is also found here.. also everything you need to know about how to import a model and make sure it is playable.
I am new to this but I can now make models fully playable in game and if you want a hand just email me.

Considering the detail that's in the mesh (the hull plating and the command section look really cool) the poly count isn't that high. You must be very good at this. For casual playing it should run OK. Get into a fleet battle with a bunch of ships, explosions, etc..  at this detail level though and you'll have probs.

It looks great and I like seeing Azel's stuff done with all of the details (or as much as practical) put in. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Like I said in another post, I've been getting the Romulan fever as of late. You know the symptoms. Green blood, pointed ears, an increased cleverness, and an obsession with ornithology...

Speaking of birds, i can't wait to get my hands on this one. What's it going to be named?

Yeouch... Now that's a Future Trek-era Warbird, more suitable than those lousy Reman ones from Nemesis! :)

I'll admit, the name sort-of bothers me... I can't put my finger on why but it means nothing usually... At least the design is wonderful! :)

That's the perfect shade of green. BTW, I don't think Romulans use uniform coloration on all their ships. The Warbirds were always a lighter green, but the scout ships were always pretty dark, and the two Valdores in Nemesis were different colors.

Yeah... just too chip in with everyone else!!! fantastic work.... very very awsome!!!

Just out of curiosity though... 8500 ploygons you say... the modlers for sfciii would always try to keep their models to below 1000!!

I wonder how your model will affect gameplay as such?? If at all that is??

Still awsome!!!

MarkyD. Its seems to me that there are actually less models which are below 1000 polys. Most I've come across are more closer to 2500 polys.

little tip for you if you haven't fighured it out yet. make all your lines before you merge, then click on the first, go to the modifiers tab on the right and scroll down to attach multi, click this then drag over the other lines in the popupbox. now you can extrude all in one go. tadaaaa.

Ok the ships is supposed to be about 1,050 meters long...so its Big
Super-manuverable, Less ovarall weapons than the Scimitar(that ship was waaaay overkill) but of better quality
Old style Plasmatorps of TOS (NOT the Panzy a$$ed torps of TNG and Better) which where a Real menace
Scimitaresq Cloaking/shield ability
And Armour!!!

Ah, I see.  Have you ever thought about making sort of a cross between a D'Deridex and a Valdore, sort of a prototype for a new class of mainstay warbird?

The D'Deridex  would become CC's in the Romulan Navy(similar to the way that Excelsiors are used as CC's in TNG feds)  the Valdores seem more like CA-heavy CL's to me in Nemesis...so the Vor'Rexus would be an XCA(if it were to be an up-in-coming CA) or an XBC if it where more Rare of a Hull Type

But I do have an Advanced D'deridex design too I posted it before...a few have already seen her :)

I did texture it very basic inside and bottom, originally I was going to create armoured face all over but then I checked the poly count, a friend of mine is converting it now :)

Just d/l her, gonna go chk her out, but had a ? for DD...any way to cut out some of the pop-ups? Very annoying to wade through all that cr@p to d/l a model. :smackhead:

As you heard God's message from afar;
All you had hoped for, all you had, you gave
To save mankind-yourself you scorned to save."
