STGD statement to Dynaverse.net

**takes deep breath**

OK, there were some things posted by an STGD (Star Trek Gamers Directory) staffer yesterday that were innappropriate as they apply to this site. As a staffer for STGD, you have our apologies. You also have our support for http://www.dynaverse.net

The account I manage here was also PM'd today by an admin containing some disturbing content without provocation on these boards. I have forwarded that to another admin here for review.

Bottom line? Let's get along, can we? At least here. This is sacred ground, as far as I am concerned.

Dynaverse.net is a good thing, and Frey and Xenocorp and those who helped put this together did a good thing. People in this community cared enough to save it for all of us.

Frey is to be publically commended for his efforts here, not villanized.

Katherine_STGD has left the staff. For now, until Victor recovers from a heart condition, I will be admining at the old STGD forums, once the home of 1,700+ Trek gamers.

http://www.stcd.sgnonline.com/forums/

Another staffer will manage the front page and site updates.

Victor cares about the D-3 and Trek gaming more than some of you may ever realize. He has been at it for five years -- all Trek gaming from the Bridge Commander and Armada series to Birth of the Federation and EAW/OP and SFC3.

The STGD -- which hosts the Tri-Mod Forums for Unity, Dominion Wars and ThePelican and Near Distant Future (among others) -- took a pot shot as Taldren left the building. The staff had been banned there for months for jumping into the fire with the call for a public SFC3 beta -- V531, which we all now have. STGD hosted a GSA mod from Kaos fleet that contained the V528 build. Nothing wrong with that, as permission was granted then, but build #'s were mentioned and all hell broke loose as Pestalence will testify.

Victor suffered an artery blockage yesterday and is recovering from that in a hospital in Scotland where he lives. He has been uder tremendous stress of late with the sites he manages, including ours.

Today Harry Lang of Paramount checked in and Dan -- concerned about this whole mess.

There were some things said by Katherine yesterday that I could not control -- even as an admin for STGD.

There are those (me included) who don't agree with *all* the administrators and admins here. But frankly, tough for us.This is your site and you call the shots. Expect this account to remain stain free.

The old guy behind this keyboard has asked for peace in this community -- all of us -- for months. I have shared personal conversations with Frey on MSN about his opening of this site and back him on this effort 100%. Do I agree politically with *all* the admins here? Nope.

But who cares what I think anyways?

If the admins here want to move this thread for your review only, feel free.

Best wishes and good luck with the site. Looks great!

I'm not a member of the staff here. I'm just an SFC fan. I want everyone to get along as well. With that said, your posting style needs to be adjusted, IMO. STGD is a fine site and has much to offer. Virtually everyone of your posts doesn't need to be littered with links to it though. How about adding the main link to your sig instead. Even your post here to reach out for peace amoungst us looks more like an advertisement. It gives the impression to me that what you are trying to do is draw people from here rather than join in.

Would you mind elaborating a bit on exactly what Harry's and Dan's concerns were. Was it the health of Victor (whom I wish a speedy recovery to), or something else to do with the community?

Thanks

PS. I notice that there is a link to STGD in your sig already. That's all we need to find you.  ;)

OK, Rod ...Basically Katherine said some things as did others at those links that have been locked, trashed moved and edited. I wanted others here to know.

Not trying to advertise, just that the links I gave there had some things said at those places that STGD would like to apologize for ... They are different from the siggie one's. I can remove them. NP.

Removed* Just wanted to make it clear that there are two major forums over there. The one's for the Tri-Mod and the STGD are differfent -- that's all.

One says /forum the other /forum(s) Two independant sites.

Vic should be out of the hospital this weekend.

As to Dan, I don't know. Harry was supposed to get his questions for the STGD interview from me by today, then all this happened. Harry keeps up with what's going on out there and I imagine wanted to check things himself. I believe Katherine contacted Harry yesterday with her concerns about STGD taking the shots from a Taldren admin yesterday.

Watertiger - I'm the one who caught and removed the threat post yesterday.

Unless STGD makes a policy of supporting such threats, I don't think Dynaverse.net is going to have a problem with STGD in that regard.

I'd just as soon it was treated as one board member doing something really dumb, and leave it at that.

For the record, I don't play SFC3, have never been to STGD, and am not starting out with any grudges.

Thanks, Sethan.

The STGD is a unique bunch. They have always been a voice for the gamers. Vic is moving it to more of a less political animal and more of a magazine format, but will keep the STGD forums opens for the gamers and their vent sessions.

I imagine the upload database will remain, but is being cleaned of the old stuff. Hell, there was 60 gigs of junk all the way from BOTF that was in there he was cleaning out in preparation for Chris Jones' work and that of the Ferel Yards.

Glad someone caught the thread over here; thanks.

It's just been a stressful week for all those involved with all that happened with Taldren's exit.
