Topic: Please help a newb with SFC3, Mission 2! (Read 1751 times)

Pathetic? Yes, but I love this game!!! Unfortunately, I can not beat mission 1 of the Klingon campaign. I have tried it at least 25 times, but I can't seem to beat these two Orion vessels. Does anyone have any tips on beating the mission, or ways I should configure my Bird of Prey? I can usually start to do hull damage to one of them, but I just get pummeled before I can destroy one.

If I recall there were no Pirates in that mission and they aren't called Orion only SFC2 EAW & OP they are.They are Romulans that are in that first mission.You used Captain or Admiral that is the reason you have Bird of Prey if you chose Lieutenant you would of got a K-Vort class ship.This unless you are doing the story campaign and not the conquest campaign.I saw what you said mission 2 I has been sometime since I did that but If I can recall I captured one the pirates ship with a K-Vort class ship.I tractored it and held it until I captured it go after the frigate first.You must learn how to use the cloaking device first.I would suggest I few skirmishes to learn this.

When you start this mission over again use the LT. rank instead so that you get the K-Vort DD and it has 4 times disruptor's 1 on it as well as 1 times photon with three volleys when you get a legendary tactical officer.I would go with a good engineer though so you get more power out of your engines.I can not tell you how to use the cloaking device except decloak and cloak at range 30 or 20 make sure you are behind the ship you are fighting against.The only way is to be patient I did the hole campaign in 2 hours but I needed a good rest afterwords and was a little nervous.I would go give another shot and think it through and when you get enough PPs use them to upgrade your ship Oswell and don't forget to trade in your ship in the campaign for bigger one you will need it.I never completed the Romulan or Federation missions I need to redo those.

Mission 1: On patrol with Jureth - Roms attack planet, stay with him, attack the same ship.

Mission 2: Blood Money SOS - attack and capture the Pirate frigate (see tutorials if you dont know how)

Thanks for the tips! I have one other quick question...how do the three difficulty levels affect the game beside starting ship? I would like to start with a better ship, but I don't want to dumb down the AI.

You will not dump the AI you will want to do as I suggested start of as Lieutenant that will give you a better ship.The K-Vort class of BOP not the B'Rel class.I am wondering are you patch up to the build 531 as well.If not don't worry about right now until you want to do some Dyna playing.You won't like the disrepute thing in the patch but there in a single 531 installer at the top of this forum it contains 1.01 beta as well you need both of them.I would just go and enjoy your game for now .
