The second version of Generations at War, developed by Nannerslug, is almost ready to go. The campaign, beginning this Saturday (19th June) will be a campaign with a twist:
It will be the first Multi-Era campaign in Dynaverse historyLet me clarify. 4 Races will duke it out- Starfleet, the Romulans, the Klingons and the Dominion. The campaign will last for 12 days- the first 4 of which, players will only have access to Original Series ships- during which, Mirak ISC and Lyran ships will replace the Jem Hadar and Cardassians of the Dominion.
4 days into the campaign, the second 'era' will be launched- requiring no seperate download to achieve, Motion Picture (TMP) era ships will be made available to all races.
Then on the last 4 days of the campaign, the third and final era comprising TMP and Next Generation (TNG) ships will be released.
The rules will be standard, but with some interesting twists. The server will operate (I believe) on LOS+1 as before, but some of the rules come from the original 'General War' campaigns for D2.
People will notice ships with special functions. those will be command, scout and commando (troop transports). These will have major roles. Details will be released later this week. Here is an example, though.
Deep Striking will be changed to where you are only allowed 1 hex into enemy territory.
With a scout in your group (fleeted up) you will be able to also escape a strike a single time. (you will not be able to fleet up after being attacked that time).
Scouts will be able to operate 3 hexes deep without worry of being trapped. Any deeper and they have the ability to escape twice.
Troop transports will be required to assualt a planet.
There will be limits to the number of ships you can have in a hex based on the type of ships and whether or not they have command functions.
