What ship was that? (DS9 - Favor the Bold)
« on: June 15, 2004, 09:20:48 pm »
I was just watching the DS9 episode, Favor the Bold (Season 6), when they are using a captured Dominion ship to infiltrate behind enemy lines. They are attacked by a very fast and neat looking Federation ship armed with quantum torpedoes. I could not identify the class. Can anyone tell me what ship class that was?

Thanks

That would be USS Centaur, (due to lack of info, the class is called Centaur-class after it).

It's reminiscent of some of the FASA designs, due ot its LOOONG Nacelle arms.

EDIT: On a further note, the event you described happened in A Time to Stand... I hope we are talking about the same ship.

Yes, the studio model is actually kitbashed from the ERTL Miranda and Excelsior kits, which being scaled differently means the ship is all out of proportion. There's a build-up of it on this page: http://members.fortunecity.com/msfm/stephen_l/usscentaur.htm though the guy who made it has an odd theory about it being scaled to the Excelsior components. He also thinks the Medusa/Trident has one nacelle facing up even though photographs show it the other way round.

The nacelle pylons don't seem that long to me, the nacelles are only slightly wider spaced than the beam of the saucer.
