Topic: SFC 3 crashing problem (Read 1302 times)

i have a problem running sfc3, whenever i try to launch a mission the screen goes black instead of coming up with the loading screen then crashes to desktop with an

unhandled exception in version 1.01 build 531
SFC3.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module d3d8.dll

then a load of numbers etc.

any ideas?

When you down loaded the patch did you follow all the instructions to the letter.Did you uninstall the game delete game folder and then reinstalled say no to direct x and game spy arcade.Then I would re down load beta 1.01 500 did you do that first and then 1.01 beta 531 when you download these please save them so you won't have to reDL again make up a DL folder for this.When you are finished applying the patches to the game.This what you need to do is go into c: programs Activision Folder the one you were or did you delete it do not at this point please.There is an Icon with SFC3 it is your game Icon to launch the game right click go to properties and check disable visual themes and click OK.There is a Alternative way there is at the top of this forum is a stickied or pinned post poster Pestalence you can down load that and please save it again.

I hope this all works out for you.There is something you are not doing and explain in detail as to what you did and what you down loaded.I not getting a good picture of it and please take your time posting.This will help a great deal.

Was it working on this PC before, and just stopped working? Or is this a PC that you haven't installed the game on before? If the latter, then my first thought would be video drivers which need updating.

Otherwise inspect some of the stickied posts at the top of this forum.

Follow the instructions posted in the v531 single file installer.. if you follow the instructions, I am sure you will not have a problem having the game run.. check for the sticky posting I made at the top of this forum for the SFC 3 v531 Single File Installer.
