U.S.S. Bellicose - Normandy Class

With all these DN's flying around, it's no wonder the Feds win the wars. The Bell is one of my oldest ships not yet brought up to current standards so I figured I'd take some time to modernize her. I also felt it needed to be more than a 5 minute slaptogether (unlike the old one which was just a Connie with a third engine), and used my recent Lethality mesh as a basis. Normandy class is in honor of the recent D-Day anniversary and the listings in the specs include the names of the beaches used during the invasion.

Holy F**k! A TUC-era gunship, puurfect!

Oh my, take these "dusty" ships out more often. You didn't quit working on them for months at a time for nothing, afterall...;)

What's up with the 16 In guns sticking out of the bridge?

What's the poly count on this one?

Damn nice improvement WZ45! Nice way to commerate the D-Day anniversary too. Nice touch.

Everytime I see the forward megaphasers below the bridge I want to say make it turn like a tank turret. I also love the attention to detail on the structure that supports the underslung Belknap style warp configuration.

BTW: Is this a custom design of yours or something that has been around awhile? This design is growing on me and I'm thinking it would make a great Imperial ship.

Now where is that Gray Melak, LOL Actaully I wanted to know if you are going to make a KA Romulan Imperium at some point...

Qapla!

'Tis a fabulous model as we have come to expect. I especialy approve of the way you did the impulse engines. It's a good solution to the problem presented by the middle nacelle pylon. I'll be adding her to the model library shortly and will see if the bussards can be changed to a little more of a standard looking appearence.

Thanks, WZ

What other use is there for big guns than blasting the enemy into dirt? The Bellicose has always had bridge guns, it's kind of a trademark of the ship.

As for polygon count, it's in the 7000 range, just like the other 2 Federation style DN's I released a while back.

It's my design, even though I obviously built it off of the Constitution and I have to give some credit to Atolm - he's fond of blue bussards on the late TMP/Pre-TNG ships. I pegged this one as an Enterprise B era design, something a bit less expensive than building a brand new Excelsior.

If one doesn't like the blue, I included a standard gray bussard grill texture along with a blue nacelle texture for the middle engine, just to cover all grounds.

Fantastique, as the French probably wouldn't say but I'm saying it. A really original design and a huge improvement over the original Bellicose IMO, The belknap style hull usually looks akward like a bloated queen-bee but you've avoided that landmine quite well here

You did? Well that's just exceedingly cool. I'm just being persnickity, is all it is. I don't expect bussards to glow and therefor think they should not be illuminated. But it is an opinion that is no more valid than anyone elses. I thank you, though, for including that option for the persnickity. For what it is worth... I also hold the opinion that the finest TMP Constitution I have ever played is the one you built. Because, d***... just look at it!

WOW! That is an exceedingly nice ship WZ45. I very much like the look you gave the underside of the saucer especially the lighting. Thank You for sharing!

interesting blend  of Fdn and Excelcior. Though the bridge cannons are a bit tacky.

Great job!
Don't care for the cannons though.
But hey it's your talent not mine and so I will now go back to my binkie and pout.
