How many of you got today off?

I know two people from different companies in Austin that had the day off today in memory of President Reagan (One of the best as he was a little bit of both parties, an all American kind of guy). Stock markets are closed as well.

We are off at 3pm today.
The motorcade goes right past us at 5:30. Everything will be messed, traffic-wise.

Early, Hah!

His corporate cronyism has help ensured that most people in America now work LONGER hours for LESS pay!

(He will be dearly missed)

The gov employees had the day off to golf and shop, oops, I mean "mourn"; we contractors did not. And sure enough the head of the Directorate (a G-14) called at 9AM to check if we were there. By 1pm I had nothing to do since base was effectively shut down.

Hey, at least you had a GS-14 with balls enough to at least call! I saw some weird govt. high ranking types in MDW when I was at Belvoir, I wondered if they could make a decision on their own at all!

"55th Wing,

In remembrance of President Reagan and in conjunction with the recent Executive Order , COMACC has directed ACC units not directly supporting funeral activities, on-going global war on terrorism operations  or  mission essential functions, to be closed at the commander or director's discretion on Friday 11 Jun.    For nonessential civilians, this period of time will be treated as falling within the scope of statutes and Executive Orders governing holidays.  Employees who are excused from duty as a result of the Executive Order will receive the basic pay they would have received if no Executive Order had been issued.  An employee who was previously scheduled to take annual leave on 11 Jun 04 should not be charged annual (or any other form of paid leave, compensatory time off, or credit hours) for that day.  If you have questions on specific scheduling involving your civilians, please contact your local Civilian Personnel Office.

So, even though a lowly contractor, I got the day off....and BTW, watched the entire funeral...

Cool, you got a base commander with heart.

We got a penny pincher who likes to spout crap about all for one and one for all but seems to forget that contractors are human too.

Well Nick, what can I say...the way the message from the SECUSAF read, everyone working for the gov't was supposed to get the day off to mourn...

But then, you're at Ft Monmouth...six months spent there, a year out of my life
